Gosh I wish I could remember, I tried to go back and look at a incomplete list of plants that I used to have up north. I know that it most likely came from Bluestone perennials. I just went through their site to see if I could find it, but nothing is showing up. That plant doesn't normally get that tall, but it really loved the bed, which was leaf humus and horse manure with good top soil. All of it brought in to create the bed as we only had thick clay soil up in OH. If I should come across it I'll post here for ya.
Blessings to you,
Jan

They look like anchusa, perhaps Italian Bugloss (Anchusa azurea)

Hmm, every link I looked at for Veronica austriaca 'Crater Lake Blue' says it's only 12-18" tall and it has small leaves.

Sue, the Veronica in the pic is the plant to the front left of the clematis.

I do not know what the taller blue plant is, but would like to know.
I know this is an older thread, but thought I would point that out, and you are right it stays shorter, so it is not the ID of the taller one.

Yes, I guess I never came back to this, and it never got tagged, which I'll fix now. Pretty sure the tall blue ones are anchusa I linked above even though Jan never confirmed it. I grow it and that's how tall it gets
