I grow several veggies, plus annuals and perennials. This is a favorite time of year for me to sit and plan my Dream Garden. I have a cup of coffee in hand and the fireplace is roaring.

I wish you could order a small pkg of seeds instead of the regular size.

I am interested in trading a plant for a few seeds if anyone is interested. Or seeds for seeds.

It's getting down to the last few days of the Cubits Hog Wild Swap. But if you already have a list of seeds you would offer, you could still swoop in over there, list what you offer, and request thinsg other people are offering.

However, several people have already closed their lists so the selection is decreasing.

Here is the most recent chat thread:

I think many of the seeds swapped in the Hog Wild Piggy Swap came form big commercial packages, divided down into smaller trade packets. Also, mnay people there save seeds and offer those.

I usually buy Asian seeds form these two (links in my sig block:
Kitazawa ~ Tainong Seeds

More common seeds, I usually buy from:
Territorial,
Johnnies Seeds,
Baker Creek (look at their "bulk seeds" section for bargains)
Fedco,
Hazzards,
Victory, or
Franchi.

@bluegrassmom,

My top three are #1 Franchi, #2 Baker Creek, #3 Southern Exposure Seed Exchange.
What ever seeds I don't plan to use, I re-pack while they are still fresh and trade them away.
Johnnie's is also really good, but my garden is small so I have limits.

You could send me a Tree-mail and tell me what seeds you want to trade away. My seed list for the Piggy Swap is here:

Thanks guys.
I have gotten the Johnnie's catalog but never placed an order. It looks like I have some new info to google now. I can spend a ton of cash if I am not careful. It all looks so tempting. Right now I am in the second round of a ice storm Angry

I will check out your list. Thanks for the list.

I've bought from Swallowtail quite a bit, too. I like them. I also like Harris Seeds (placed a small order with them last week) and Stokes Seeds. And Johnny's. I've probably bought from most of the major players Hilarious!

And for a few seeds- cheap- Pinetree.

And Jonna Sudenis. (I forget the name of her site???)

I've had mixed results with seeds from Harris and Summerhill, but Diane's and Johnny's are great! Oh, and another good source is T's: http://www.tsflowers.com/

Do you guys direct sow? Have a green house or how do you start most of yours? We have a large veggie garden and I love trying new seeds. This yr it will be the Goosebumps pumpkins and Cushews. This season my son planted Atlantic Giant pumpkins. I will post a pic if I can find the file.

I start a few seeds under lights in the house, and propagate a few coleus cuttings there, too. Most of my seeds I have wintersown in years past. I do very little direct sowing, though there are exceptions.

I do mostly seed starting in the house and move to an unheated greenhouse. I do a lot of geranium and coleus cuttings. The hardy seeds like zinnias I direct sow. I have direct sown in the fall, things that need a chill, like columbine, larkspur.

Last year I also experimented with starting seeds under lights in vermiculite (Jonna's method). Worked well for some things but I didn't do well with the begonias that way.
