Very windy here as well. Yesterday I even had to keep my back to the wind. How I wish we could have the wind on the hot days in summer.

Angelina is my favorite. It never disappears here. It looked good even at zero degrees. I wish more sedums would stay all winter like it. Blue Spruce Sedum does too.

Cliff: I had the sedum as a new plant in a container all summer.
It became so beautiful as the season went on,I checked the zone to see if I could leave it outside for winter.
The zone was iffy so I dug most of the plant and took it inside for the winter.
I also started cuttings from the potted plant but they didnt make it.
What was left of the container on the deck was so small it didnt survive but I had my "over winter " pot that started to grow in late Feb.
The potted lineare is on the deck now and I am trying to decide what to do with it I am thinking it will go to my daughters garden that has a nice raised rock area.
I will divide what I have and use some in a container combo. If it doesnt make it at least I will have DD's to divide next spring.

My lineare did NOT survive last winter, which was brutal, but the plants in the cold room did just fine. It lives in the soil of a Brugmansia "Snowbank", I did some dividing and I'm replanting outside.

I believe the sedum will have a better chance in the ground and on stone. Planters get way too cold for some perennials.
This year will be interesting as to the lineare in the combo above in a container.

Here is the sedum on the deck today.

Are we all talking about the "same " plant? Maybe i am Too close to Washington DC after all Confused Confused
The clumps in the ground have been there for at least 20 years now & cased in ice and weeks of 0 temps at a time.and the starter pots i use are the normal thin chinese made 3 or 4" 1's. the trays are what the pots are in at Lowe's or K Mart. they have always come back. There isn't more than 2" of dirt in any of the planters & trays.
took these this morning, starting to rain now.

Glad to know these are hardy. I just rooted some of these by just breaking them off and sticking In the ground. All of them took.

UPDATE on Linere
I divided the potted clump and the plant had already started to air-layer new growth.
DD gets a big chunk for her rock garden and I put two pieces in the biggest dia planters I have.
Two big planters

These are awesome plants. I planted some of mine in partial shade and they seem to be doing well too.

Hello everyone, I have my lineare planted in the rock garden with semp's and we also had a bad winter,i'm sure not as bad as those up north. We had 1 snow & a ice storm so it was frozen for about 2 weeks straight. It seems to only go partially dormant here.
Here it is in Feb.

This is the most recent picture i have taken of it this spring and it's a good big bigger now.
Thumb of 2014-05-13/jojoe/522c4e

This plant started off as just a couple of pieces and i have just kept snipping and sticking the pieces back in the ground ,they seem to always root. Lovey dubby
This is one of my favorites. Hurray! The dark green plant that you see is 'limelight' my 2 year old grandaughter tried her hand at propagating and they all took only now the lineare has covered it so i am going to have move it this fall.
A green thumb comes only as a result of the mistakes you make while learning to see things from the plants point of view!!

clintbrown said:Hi Greg. I'm doing good here. How are you? Things are starting to grow here too. The Chocolate Ball here looks good right now. I think it glows. I may have to put some in a shadier spot. It suffers in the summer here. I got S. Lineare at Home Depot last week. I had wanted that one for a while! I bought this mixed batch of Sedums at Lowes too. It has tons of different varieties in it!

Hi, I also got one of those. Plucked & potted up pots of each one. Are you going to put ID's on them?

I had this sedum in a pot for two years it died last winter.

I have had it in my sedum garden before and it died. I do not think it is a zone 6 hardy plant. When we have more of a zone 7 winter it survives.

I am a die hard thought I just picked it up at Lowes this week I am going to try it in the garden again and try it with more rocks and see if more drainage helps i t survive a zone 6 winter if we get a zone 6 winter this year or next.
