Hey there JulieB. Nice to meet your, and a great big Welcome! to ATP.
A big Group hug for starting right in with the wonderful photos of your containers. We love to see what others are growing in containers.
Wow, you still have tomatoes. Mine have been gone for over a month now. But then you are living in Southern California. I recognize that great big, fat grasshopper.
Your plants look so healthy and happy. What are your favorites?

Thank you for the warm welcome! My hubs bought a beautiful Bella'roma rose (adding that I needed to stop & smell the roses...) & it grew from there. I figured that since I have just a small space that I need to be selective: it has to be very pretty, smell great, or be edible! I'm new to container gardening & Zone 9B so I'm playing!

My favorites? I'm hoping to keep two night-blooming jasmines happy 'cause I love the scent at night (they never seem quite pleased, however) -- and the miniature roses -- something about those perfect little buds! And how cool is it to use fresh herbs in the tomato sauce?

Hi Julie, welcome! That's an amazing garden for anyone, let alone a professed newbie in containers. Bravo & thanks for sharing! "very pretty, smell great, or be edible!" My criteria as well. Fav plants of the moment are the holiday cacti blooming like crazy. Do you have any of those? Most of my containers are in the house at this time.

Yay solstice!! I agree, JoAnn!

I'm so happy to have found this site! People who enjoy talking about gardening!

Thank you again for the warm welcome and kind words. I've got two bowls filled w cacti & succulents, mostly because my husband loves weird odd stuff (proof in point!) - do cactus grow?!? The succulents (I love that word!) seem happy, slow growing. Is there a season for these puppies?

One of you'all has sent me researching daylilies so I'll be seeking advice there!

Hoping for the rain promised this morning. I just can't water like the rain can!

Warmly!

What a beautiful rose! Coloring is similar to my namesake rose.

Hard to say about season w/o knowing what plants you are asking about?

I never knew how many cool non-cactus (non-prickly) plants are in the 'cactus/succulent' category until recently. So many cool 'foliage' colors, interesting flowers, undemanding care requirements. Fascinating stuff (and about all that's blooming from my collection inside at this time of year.)

Wax Begonias are also succulent & putting on a great show for a plant inside on a windowsill.

As you develop plant-specific questions, you might get the quickest and highest number of responses by putting those questions in a separate discussion in the appropriate forum for that kind of plant.

Julie that is one beautiful rose photo. Do you know the name? I agree about rain being so much better than faucet water. Thumbs up

And more beautiful photos from Tiffany. Hurray!

I love your photos, Tiffany! And I'll figure out specific succulent questions for sure! The rose is a Bella'Roma & it smells as good as it looks. Loved the little bit of rain!

TYVM, Julie! OOh that rose sounds awesome, wish the computer was scratch'n'sniff! Well, you can scratch it all you want, but it just doesn't instigate any scent, and kinda blurs the view...

There's a plant ID forum, for any that need a name (beyond like Phil or Gladys. DH says all of our plants are named Steve. I didn't know that until he told me - go figure!) Smiling
