Lol .. Trichosanthes are really greedy guts when it comes to food. I did manage to get a male plant fairly early but not before I started a bunch more seeds. I now have 20 some odd plants growing in pots and in the ground ... so far none of the newer ones have produced flowers. Since none of the female flowers were open when the flower bloomed I took the anthers and put them in a sample vial and set it in some silica gel. When a female flower finally opened I hand pollinated and it TOOK! I had another male flower open up last night and have done the same thing with the anthers.

They are amazing to watch open as all that fringy stuff just waves around. I bought a time lapse video camera and my very first video is of Trichosanthes opening ... being my first video and totally unfamiliar with the settings, it was grossly over exposed with pretty much no detail. This is 4 hours compressed into about 30 seconds:

Thanks .. I'm not sure ... The genus has some powerful chemical constituents in it that look very promising for treatment of retro viruses with kirilowii apparently having the most concentrated forms.

Thanks! Yours look great! Have you tasted the nectar yet? The kirilowii is super, super, SUPER sweet with a slightly metallic aftertaste and has a lemony fragrance.
