Fusarium is common in most soils around the US.-The varieties that affect other members of the solanum family(tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, etc)also attack brugs. It will show up as lesions around the leaf nodes or as a larger mass, on the main trunk,at ground level. These pictures do not show Stanglebrand which is just one more variety.SB will look similar but has a distinctive black ring around the lesion.Thankfully,I don't have any pictures of that one.

Here is another shot. It's worth noting that this is incurable, and contageous so the plant, pot and soil should be destroyed. While it is incurable,it can be prevented by regular applications of a systemic fungicide such as Bayer 3 in 1 or Orthenex. There are others but these two can usually be found at your local big box stores. Some yellows and oranges seem to be especially prone to this disease. The plant in the picture is Orange
Sunshine.

There is a trap here for those growing out seedlings.Orange Sunshine and Goldfinch are two of my hybrids that slipped out without showing any signs of disease but later turned out to be suseptible(sp ineed a spell checker). That was due to those regular applications of systemic.New policy is to let all seedlings take their chances.
