Has anyone started receiving their 2014 seed/plant catalogues yet? I've gotten several over the past few weeks, but am trying not to look at them til after the holidays.

Beautiful Baker Creek, and Johnnies.

And a few who-cares companies.

P.S. I finally figured out what the plant is on the cover of Johnnies ....

I actually do a lot more seed shopping online than from print catalogs.

I don't plan on buying seeds this year. I oh so overdid it last year! I have lots of leftover seeds, seeds I never even got to, seeds I gathered, and I just plain don't feel like dealing with seeds this year! LOL

Of course, give me another month of winter and that could all change!

I'm embarassed to say........I stopped counting at 140 *Blush*

It really made for a stressful summer. I was not able to fully enjoy all the results.

I know what you mean Jennifer. You have to strike a happy medium- enough plants to look nice and make you happy, but not so many that you want to jump off a bridge to escape them.

Now that I've been gardening at this house for 30 years, and wintersowing for 9 (???) years, starting seeds under lights, buying plants... I'm pretty filled up!

Jen,
I get 'embarrassed" every year. No self control. *Blush*
Really is an obsession. As with Karen, I dabble with witer-sowing, start seeds early indoors and direct sow. I haven't started my wish list for 2014 yet, but am certain that I will start way too many plants for my garden and will share in the spring.......again

I have been looking at the seed offerings as well. I'll going to try and hold back. *Blush* I gave away so much stuff last year even after having a plant sale. The general public likes pels/geraniums, petunias and, lobelia, so very hard to get them to try something different. Blinking need less to say not a booming business. I'm all about trying some new stuff, never know it could be a favorite. Your in good company!!!

I love to look at the catalogues to get ideas on how to combine plants, see the new introductions, etc.

For some reason, my Baker's Creek is always one of the last to arrive sad:

Joanne (and others)....what are your "top 5"????

My top 5 list will be quite different than most of you, since they are Canadian companies.
1. Veseys Seeds
2. West Coast Seeds
3. Stokes Seeds
4. William Dam Seeds
5. T&T Seeds

I like looking through the catalogs and place my orders on-line.

Vesey has a nice website; they used to be my go-to place for seed starting information. Smiling

I really like to look thru seed catalogues. I do go online and order but it is a winter activity for me. Snowy outside and sit by the fire with a steamy cup of coffee.

My R.H. Shumway catalog came in today. It has the most wonderful engraving style artwork. Baker's Creek came in a couple of weeks ago as did Johnnie's. I saw Jung on the table this morning, so hubby must have brought it in yesterday.

I see sweet potato slips/plants in the Shumway catalog - and several different varieties offered. I dont' see that every day, so I'll have to see what else is in there! nodding
