I bought an unknown aloe from Lowes today. I was wondering if someone could ID it? I also bought an amaryllis that was supposed to be Minerva but it turned out to be something different. The bloom is a raspberry/fuchsia color. Thanks Smiling

The Aloe leaves look fairly nondescript at this point…Will probably have to wait for the bloom to open to be sure…But, in the meantime…A.spicata…? Possibly?

Thanks Tara! I really do hope its A. spicata, do you think it would make a good houseplant? When the blooms open, I'll post pictures to keep you up to date. Thumbs up

Well, you can definitely rule out A. spicata…

Could be something more on the lines of A. vanbalenii

editing to add that with all of the different varieties of Aloe, and numerous hybrids, you may just find comfort in knowing it's an Aloe…And a beautiful one at that. As to growing it as a houseplant…I'd say it 'could' be possible if you have an area that receives some very strong sunlight.
Hope that helps! Enjoy it! It sure is pretty!

Thanks Tara! I'll probably put it outside in Spring and Summer and then bring it indoors for Winter. Right now its near a south facing window so its getting a few hours of direct sun. Thanks so much for the info, I just need to remind myself not to water it much during Winter. Thumbs up Hilarious!

That's such a pretty aloe Lin. I think I saw several that looked like climbing aloes at Lowes on the clearance rack. I didn't buy them because I didn't have time to find out the price of the aloes lol. The leaves definitely look the same, the only difference is the flowers Thumbs up

Do you think mine could possibly be a hybrid climbing aloe?
