In nature, a plant produces 1000's of seeds that only one or two survives. If all did, we call them weeds.

JB,
Very good question. I would buy seeds only from a big reputable store in that case. One that can guarantee some success rate with germination. A lot on EBay is taking a big chance but with the Aloe Poly seeds. No other source. So we wait and see. I never looked or saw African Violets from seed.

Stush, how did things turn out for your Aloe poly seeds? I really, really want this plant and would appreciate any input that you might have. I saw one at Dan Hinkley's house a couple of years ago and have wanted one since.

Linda,
My first try, I got maybe 1/3 of the seeds to germinate, then maybe 10 on to where I think they could survive. I had no room at all at my house and was growing seeds all over the place so I gave them all away to who ever wanted them. I think Hatty is the only one still left with it. Another one on a different site is also growing his two. They were small and do not like being transplanted. They like shallow pots and very open drainage with lots of water most of the year. That's why drainage is so important. I did regrow more for seeds from a different source (China) and being so much cheaper. Turns out I may end up with 2 or 3 out of 100 seeds sent. I did end up with many different and nice other kinds, but not Aloe Poly. Picture below. I just trans planted them with 8 more not showing due to being so small. I got them in a nursery type setting.

I don't want to make the same mistack again by giving away too young.

Dutchlady1,
Oh I am so sorry. I misspelled your name. I should have rechecked knowing how bad I am. My school teachers would be so ashamed of me. But I am good at science and math.
