Hi Jan.
Sorry I'm just reading this. I've been so busy with other things lately that I've had to put gardening on the back burner for bit other than weeding.

This just reminded me of my father. He was a great vegetable gardener and used to grow all sorts of veggies on his sun deck out back. One day we were visiting him and he was out back as usual, he loved to garden. My daughter who was 8 at the time used to run out to the back deck and hang out with Grandpa whenever we visited. One day my wife noticed a lot of strange plants (not weeds) growing in our courtyard in front of the house As it turned out our daughter was given vegetable seeds by Grandpa and told she could start her own garden at our house, she must have saved them in her room and planted them all while mom was pulling weeds in the front yard or when I was mowing as she would follow us out to help. We had watermelon, cucumbers, corn, beans, snap peas, etc, etc, etc growing next to our miniature date palms, and front yard landscaping all that year.

I only recently found the NGA site and have been slowly getting through some of the various forums in here. I was glad to have found this one, since I am in west central Florida, just north of Tampa. I don't know if some pages were lost because it goes from Nov. 2013 to June 2018, but I am looking forward to learning about other gardeners and all they have to offer from knowledge to insights to photos, etc. Glad to be here.

This Vanda orchid came mounted to a driftwood display in my pool cage when I purchased the home 22 yrs ago. Receives full sun thru screen and is in flower most of the year.

Hi Jason, Welcome!

Those are really gorgeous Passiflora vines and I see that your red flowering one already has a Gulf Fritillary Caterpillar visiting! Thumbs up The cat's sure eat up the foliage, making it ratty looking but it's always worth it since they turn into those beautiful butterflies!

Good to see folks are posting again. I have roughly 3500 plugs I want to send off to those interested. I will have a list soon.
I also have a nice order from Rosy Dawn arriving next Monday.
Life is wonderful in Okeechobee.

Hi Gal, glad to see you pop in again too. Bet your garden is really looking good now, you had just moved in when I was down there and saw it last, shoot that was about five years ago. Hope the Heliconia I gave ya is doing good.

This was one of Jeremy's favorite vines. The last email I got from him was inquiring if I had some he could have. So I got a whole flat of nice plugs in his memory. The more shade, the more pink leaves.

Wow Sydney, you found the motherlode. Great selections! I have moved to the Jacksonville area and I often think of Jeremy and wonder how his garden/jungle is now. Do you remember what his address was?

@ardesia Alice, it's been probably ten years since I was on DG but I heard a few years ago that Jeremy passed away.

Yes, he did pass but I would still love to drive by his old home and see if any of his plants have survived.
