LOL! No kidding! The raccoons must have a food shortage right now! We've had to put our trash cans in the garage to keep them from prying them open and scattering garbage everywhere! ugh ...

Well, my yard here in Jax is TOAST!!!
It does however give me a blank canvas.
I know my lace leaf Japanese Maple will be lush and Hostas happy.
I am however in fear that I lost all varieties of Copperleaf.
I do wish the city fathers would go ahead and layout the sidewalk they are putting thru my front yard.

The city put in a sidewalk across my front yard a few years ago. At the time, I had an old single wide broken down asphalt driveway. I went out and talked to the foreman and they put in a double wide concrete driveway at the same time for like half of what it would have cost me since the city was paying for the first 10 ft or so and I paid them under the table so to speak. LOL
Well they have decided to take a perfectly good 4 lane road and make it 3 lanes.
They could get sidewalk area from footage they could take while going from 4 to 3 lanes.
BUT, NOOOO! They have to meander thru my yard and remove one Live Oak.
Since this is a state road, they own the front 15 feet of my yard.

Well, I had to reclinata palms in the path of the sidewalk and they asked if I wanted them moved or trashed. I opted to move them about 10 feet up the yard. He came with the backhoe and dug 2 holes and went over and scooped them out of the ground and dumped them in the holes and backhoed the dirt around them. Said they don't guarantee anything they have to move but to keep them watered. They did fine but I did finally have them removed as they got too large for the area.
Nice place you have here! Dave has done such an amazing job setting this all up!Looking at all these Garden sites has really gotten me kind of excited to get out and do some work this weekend! I guess this crappy freeze we had has kind of put a mental block in my head and it's a shame, as my Garden has never looked so bad. I've lost so many plants but I'm still going to be patient as it's still only the beginning of Feb. - too early to trim back the devastation. At least I can clean up some pots though!
So glad to see you're feeling better Marianne! I have a really nice picture of you carrying a head just in case you want to put it on your profile! hehe
Flower- I was tired of it about 3 weeks ago!
wren- go ahead and start cutting back-I won't tell! I already did the BOP's and banana's, and moved some crape myrtles to a sunnier place. Now's a good time to transplant any of your trees or bushes.

Yea, I lost a lot of things that I have had for years. Typically, the temps just drops for a very short period of time. But this year, the low temps sustained for hours and the tropicals just couldnt take it.
