Thanks, Chris and Tiffany. I bought the seeds from Vjotech Holubec, one of the Czech alpine seed collectors. Interesting provenance to the seeds - they were collected on Karlik Shan, a mountain in the Tien Shan range in China, near Xinjiang. I've sent seeds from it into the NARGS and SRGC seed exchanges, so it may become more widely grown with time. Both the plant itself (a small rosette) and the flower have been beautiful in the rock garden.

No wonder I wasn't familiar with it. It's beautiful and I hope it does become readily available. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I should mention that what is shown in the photo is the first bloom for that plant, in its second third year from seed. I imagine it will put up additional flowering stems with time, assuming it continues to survive.
