Nancy,
Brinda took that picture in Yukon, I took a 3 day lay-over in OKC.
I got to meet her doll of a DM., and the rest of the family too.
Got the first tan I've had in 20 years.
Thumbs up

Bulbs
Hi,

To those of you that don't know me, my name is Bill and I own Caladium Bulbs 4 Less up in Lake Placid, FL
I'm looking for a couple different people down in South Florida who are having problems with Iguana's. A friend of mine has formed a new company called Blocker.com
The company makes 3 different formulas. Iguana Blocker, Lizard Blocker & Snake Blocker. We would like to offer a Free shaker bottle of Iguana Blocker to 2 different individuals to try and than report back to us with the results. We'll even pay to ship it to you!!
This product contains all natural ingredients and is harmless to the Iguana's. It drives them away naturally by triggering there escape/ avoidance behavior.
We know our product works but we'd like to have some independent feedback from "Real folks who are having Real problems" with these unwanted visitors!!
If you're interested in receiving a Free 1 lb. 8 oz. shaker bottle of Iguana Blocker, please email me your name and address and I will get a bottle shipped out on Monday for you. You can email me at: [email protected]
The first two people to respond will receive there bottle.

Thanks,
Bill

You're right. She is the first one that came to mind. Haven't heard from her in months.

Good morning every one, Hap have you made and decisions about just having everything in your garden Florida native? I'm giving it serious thought, but still hope that this cold weather is just a once in a long while thing. Sticking tongue out

You're about right, Jim. But I tried really to push the envelope. Guess I thought I was living in Costa Rica!! LOL There were several things that were not fazed at first and then started to die a slow and ugly death. Also, depending in what part of the garden things were made a difference of their survival. Whatever lived, lives.

Not going to natives. They don't interest me. At least FL natives. Now Costa Rica, that's another story. hehe

I know what you mean-I had a bunch of crotons that were fine for the first week or so of cold back in Jan. So I figured they'd be o.k. (idiot). About the second week they just gave up. Won't take anything for granite from now on ............

Your right that most of our native stuff is probably considered tropical, but like Hap, I tend to push the envelope. For the most part we can get away with it, but this has been an unusual winter, I hope it doesn't bode for an unusual summer, meaning stronger hurricanes. Also, I suppose even in the tropics or sub-tropics, different things do better in some areas then others. Most of my perennials I put in for a butter fly garden were tropical and all survived, not only survived but doing well, while my Desert Rose (potted) couldn't make it. But even with those, the ones I had planted in the ground survived, I guess the answer would be a hot house but then there is the hurricane season coming up. Crying

I'm here too. I have been working in my yard like a madwoman this past week when the temperatures are finally a bit more agreeable. It's where I plan to spend most of today. In addition, I had a small windfall yesterday so I can go plant shopping first Smiling

Hetty,
I notice my largest plummie got frost bit and the upper branches are on the soft side. Should I just trim them all back until I hit solid growth?

Yes, you should or the rot might spread all the way down. Cut till you see white wood. It's best to clean your clippers with alcohol or something between cuts so you don't spread the rot.
Good luck.

Dave has now given us an area for articles. As I prefer to keep this site as a free membership, I can't afford to pay for articles so I am hoping some members will be willing to donate some articles to get us started. They can be reprints of articles printed elsewhere as long as you retained the rights to the articles. Please let me know if you would be interested.

Also, I still need help in building the Florida Native Plant Database. If we could get just a few new entries each day, it should build up in no time.
