And then the seagulls came and ate them, which is why the seagull is the state bird of Utah! It actually wasn't too weird seeing seagulls there. It was the pelicans that seemed so totally out of place!
It's a good thing that we don't eat seagulls and have to be grossed out thinking about what they ate! @Natalie I agree that pelicans in Utah would seem somewhat peculiar.

It was crazy seeing them! We used to go to a lake there once in a while, and there was a huge flock of pelicans! I just about fell out of the boat the first time I saw them!
