Wow is right for all of this!! Spring I'm glad you have so many bambinos!!! Kevin it seems like so much work, I'm glad you're doing it, and inspiring us to try baby steps...I left seed heads on the ground around my beds last fall, that's as much as I'm doing at this time - if something happens great...and I do keep looking to see if anything is happening :thumbsup

Yes be careful what you wish for Bev...did you read on one of the threads that some aloe seeds take several months to germinate - Oh heck no! I couldn't do it!!! Talk about being crazy with impatience!! Hang in there momma semp seed!

One winter sow jug has no green at all...I keep thinking it needs more tape...like tape is important to winter sowing...

Bev, your tape is fine, just need enough to keep the top down. Some seed may take awhile to germinate.
Did you sprinkle any soil over the top of the seed?

Mixed seeds with sand and did indeed sprinkle soil over the top!

On my way out to sprinkle some seed starter over my seeds.

Have a few roller seeds that sprouted in 4 days. Maybe they germinate quicker than the Semp seeds. They'll all be under lights for the next month and a half. I started them at this time last year and they sized up nicely by fall.

Nothing up in mine yet.

Here's the picture of the pot of seedlings from 'Helen Payne' x 'Polly Bishop'. These are from a pot that germinated early so they are now residing on my kitchen windowsill garden. Not enough light to suit them but they are growing. These would be close to the size that I would think of rowing them out and I may end up potting these up and separating them into several pots before spring. Although they all came up green you can see bit of red-purple coming on a few already. This gives me hope for some nice colored seedlings. Of course mom and dad are quite dark and there could be some bear blacks in there too.

This next week looks scary for weather here in Oregon. I'm thinking there will be many pots in the garage this week! So, don't wish you had them germinating just yet. It could be a good thing that yours haven't germinated yet.

Had a judges training session on species iris yesterday in Portland and sat next to George and Carla Lankow. Carla had bought plants from Helen, including buying hybrids of mine when I was but a pup. When we met the first time she said "You can't be the same person as the semp Kevin Vaughn as i was buying your plants 40 years ago!". She is the breeder of the Sedum 'Red Rover' that i gave to Cynda and you. I used it a good bit in crossing and have a pot full of seedlings from it too. You know me, I can't help myself.

Looks like it could possibly have some S. oreganum in it?

It is a spath. yosimite which I assume is found in Yosemite CA. and the Sierra Nevada's (or whatever mountains Yosemite is in!)
