Wow. There was a Robina you'd need spikes to climb and a two-time grand and multi-champion stem that's doing the rounds of Tassie shows (shhhhh..............) and the men's floral art winner positively sailed away with his prize in billowing pink bloomers.

The stage theme, to kick off, was 'outback':

One of the champion's tables - L. henryi seedling in centre is the Grand Champ, Best Seedling and Champion something else too that's just slipped my mind. Three Champion awards here and goodness knows what it didn't win at Burnie last weekend:

Thumb of 2014-01-11/dellac/428b80
Sunny Crown on the left trounced an enormous field of three to become champion OA, and above-mentioned Robina dwarfed everything else in the hall.

Could further explanation possibly help? The men's floral art winner spoke for itself:

Yep, the Henryi seedling was amazingly graceful - beautifully ideal. Which reminds me of the other honour it won: stem showing most elegance.

Haha! Is that your dahlia there I spy?

Speaking of tangos, the one I liked was Thesire, but I forgot to take pictures!

Here's Lion Heart stem and bloom, and Orange Art:

Looking forward to a good hot day for pollinating, but I'd better be up early to water some boxes.

Haha! Call me the Pollen Fairy!

Thanks to Brian D. I have the most wonderful orienpet pollen to sprinkle tomorrow Hurray!

(But this is another view of the henryi thing in your pic above):

Thumb of 2014-01-12/dellac/8d2d57

edit: oops, no! It's different henryi thing. I think it's a Kroell seedling that Brian D. benched? And I think I got some names wrong - should be Lionheart and London Heart... maybe. (Who can trust plant catalogues that call Sheherazade a 'tiger lily' and Mapira a trumpet?)

Anthony is that second black/yellow tango picture Lionheart or a seedling? It seems to have a considerably more black on that bloom. I don't recall my lionheart having any blooms like the second picture. They were all closer to the first.

Great Photos, guys! Hurray! I think numbering the pictures might be a good idea, because we're going to have lots of questions and comments. It would make for an easy, quick reference back to a particular picture, etc.

Joe, it was benched as Lionheart and I believe it to be so.

Papillae Lovey dubby

Here's some more shots of that particular one:

Thumb of 2014-01-13/dellac/ccd9aa Thumb of 2014-01-13/dellac/73bff6 Thumb of 2014-01-13/dellac/17b4d6

Lorn, quoting the image as Rick did would be the simplest way to reference a particular pic. (And not at all related to my personal lack of organisational and labelling skills Whistling )

Edit: at least I thought it was the same one... looking again I'm not so sure. The second one seems to more uniform in tepal arrangement and form, and not as coloured? let's just call it similar...)

You're right, Della. It's not the same one. If you look at angle where the central flower stalk meets the first branches, one can see these branches are "bent" downward. Not so in your original pic.
