I have never grown Helebores before, but I bought four on clearance last fall.
So far, they all survived the winter and look rather puny like first-year perennials usually do. The white one started blooming first--it's pretty tatty looking and I was really taking pictures of the bees. Super cute bee face in the second one.

This reddish one is just starting...and the other two are still just leaves...

I have Hellebore envy .. I have one that I've had for years and years and it's never bloomed. I'm thinking it probably needs a bit more light as it's in deep shade.
Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

Well, I went out to see if any hostas were peeping and found two Hellebores I had blooms! Plus it had daffodils growing up through the middle of it. LOL. The second one was much bigger but had no signs of blooms and the leaves were burnt looking. Shrug!

They are all so nice. Susan the one with brown leaves just looks like last years growth. I would just cut the brown ones away so the new growth can come thru.

And a few things in the greenhouse. The gerber was purchased this week. Others are over wintered.

Arlene - are those forsythias? Looks like you are going to have a nice stand of them. Did you buy them, or did you root a bunch of cuttings? I only have my one plant and tried rooting some branches that touched the soil and had some roots, but was never successful.

Love the color of the gerbera.

I rooted them in water. First time I have been able to do it. Forgot about them and when I looked, they had roots!

Arlene - you have given me inspiration to try again. This is the forsythia that I have. I bought the plant so that I can have blooms in early winter but my mother pruned it back severely about 3 years ago (not knowing that I wanted it full and not short and tidy) and it is only starting to get a little bigger.

Here is a photo of Pink Frost from a couple of weeks ago. It is past its prime by now. I had mistakenly ID it as pink lady when I posted it earlier. I would love to get some of the newer varieties, but I am fast funning out of room in my garden.
