I noticed my cannas have some new shoots starting & buds on the contorted mulberry. The Horsemint obviously loved the cold & has turned into a big clump.

I will take some pics today.

I have a new bloom cycle starting on brug Charles Grimaldi. Still in the pale peachy stage here, but will suffuse the yellow color gradually, and end up bright gold. The two big 'trees' in the pool cage seem to be alternating bloom cycles, one is always in bloom. So great that they didn't go dormant at all this winter!

Ha!

I just painted the old metallic fruit ornaments that hung over the door at Christmas in natural colors and am going to hang them in the trees. I'm sure a bird or two will try!

Good Morning Jean!

They look fantastic, David. You're gonna have some frustrated birdies and critters! The squirrels will no doubt investigate them too.

Mmm, can't wait for some strawberries. I'll bet they are behind schedule from all this cool, damp weather we've had.

The Publix up here is carrying strawberries right now from Plant City. There big and sweet, but appear to be have been picked a tad bit early because there's a bit more white at the top than I care for. Smiling Could ripen a bit more. But tasty! Looking forward to the peak of the season! Smiling

Yeah, I think I'll wait until we've had a few more days of sun to ripen them. Can't blame the farmers for wanting to get them to market asap.

I won't buy strawberries at the grocery store until I can smell them as soon as I walk into the produce section. Nothin more disappointing than to get them home and find about half of them taste like rubber. You know "It looks like a strawberry and feels like a strawberry, but when you bite into it with your eyes closed . . . it tastes about the same as a store-bought tomato "

Rolling my eyes. I know, picky picky. Big Grin

nodding I agree I prefer to go to our local "RAM" every Saturday to buy direct from the farm. Hopefully soon!
It's kinda like buying peaches…If it doesn't "smell" like a peach, it won't taste like a peach!

Mmmm…getting hungry...

I keep waiting for enough nice weather that something will start coming back to life. Maybe next week. I'm so tired of all the brown out there.

Aw shucks Jean,

This is the last splap of cold here surely, and your gardens are going to be incredible again soon. My beds are getting cleaned out and just started the in ground wildflowers and have been moving around some repeat Gaillardias and such. Things are starting to green up a little here. Smiling

Now you have me researching black aluminum fencing. It sounds like a great deal but have no idea what it is and want some at that price without knowing!

Looks like wrought iron but much lighter weight, Fencing companies have it. Thinking HD & Lowes would also. It would definetely hold up better than wood.

Not ignoring your nice pictures, David. They are lovely.

I've been out on the bay running a sailing regatta since Friday, and still at it tomorrow, so no pics from me until Monday.
