If you could grow only one vegetable, one that would provide the most nutrition for you and your family, what would it be?

woofie said:Cook? One of my favorite things is to just smear pesto (from the grocery store, thank you!) onto sourdough bread. Chomp! If I'm feeling energetic, I'll grab some parmesan to sprinkle on top.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Big Grin

I don't like the Jiffy mixes because of the sugar, (except as cake for dessert!) BUT Martha White makes a small package mix that has no sweet taste and it's just enough to fit into the cast iron corn stick pan. Love that! I keep those little packages handy for the 'gotta have a corn stick moment'.

I'm sure, had I grown up without the sugar...but I have a real bad sweet tooth anyway so I don't like it without the sugar, even though I know that's not the pure way to eat it! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I don't really have much of a sweet tooth, which is why I'm intrigued by the idea of corn bread without sugar. Heh, DH bought me a box of chocolate candy over a year ago; I finally got around to the second layer of chocolates last week.

I have others that I have to make cornbread for from time to time so that's why I sometimes use the Jiffy Mix. I use the Martha White as well. Goodness gracious sakes alive, Martha White.
I garden for the pollinators.

Well, there's sweets and then there's sweets. My little bag of dark, thin, Ghirardelli chocolate only lasted a month or so. Rolling my eyes.

Doesn't chocolate come from a bean? Well of course it does so we're in a good food category with Ghirardelli, which is why I have some also at the moment!! And the darker the better it is for you, so no problems at all, ladies. Big Grin

Doesn't that just mean you have to eat more of it? Hilarious!

I have never had a dark chocolate that I like. I do just LOVE milk chocolate but I rarely eat it. I stay away from the fattening sweets as much as possible.

I need to send you a bit of my metabolism, Rita.
Then you could pretty well eat what you want, though it's much better to moderate that and eat healthy.

I had an eat what you want and never worry about it metabolism most of my life. I only put on weight in my old age now. So I was not prepared for it and I had to work really hard last winter to loose that 30 pounds. These days I have to stay away from the sweets and eat sensibly in order to keep that extra weight off.

Thanks Sharon. In many ways it is a good thing. The donuts and cakes where not good for me, My new way of eating lots more veggies and much less red meat also has lots of health benefits.

I had such high really bad high blood pressure. No longer. My blood pressure is really excellent. And that is what the Doc said, EXCELLENT. All the way from they wanted to put me in the hospital to and three meds to Excellent. All because of exercise, weight loss and eating habits changing.
