Thought we could share some pictures of iris with interesting edges/borders. Here's a few to get us started.
Here's Mastery, I love that wide butterscotch colored edge.

Of course Double Ringer with it's double rings.

And Rogue Trader with it's light yellow edge.

Defenition has a light different edge of tan

Daring deception with it's bright edges

Then there's Edge of the World with tan edges on the standards

Strut your Stuff has those maroon nice edges

Love the gold edge on the denim colored falls of Crooked Little Smile

Narrow little tan edge on the falls of *Let's Be Friends*:

Stitched mulberry edge on the falls of *Dragon Flight*:

Bold purple edge on *Eagle's Flight*'s falls:

*Dundee* has a medium edge on the falls, in the same cornflower blue as the standards:

*Clothed in Glory* has a distinct red edge on the falls:

*Amain* has a yellow edge on both the falls and the standards:

*Gladiatrix* has a bold deep red edge on the falls. There isn't anything that isn't bold on this Iris!

More later!

*High Master* has a narrow yellow edge on the falls, and a matching wider yellow edge on the standards:
Thumb of 2014-01-19/Muddymitts/152f23

*Suave* has the faintest edge on the falls -- barely visible -- that exactly matches the tan standards:

Can't miss the burgundy edge on the falls of *Comfortable*:

*Role Model* is an interesting flower -- it fools the eye. Can you see the narrow peachy orange edges on both the falls and standards?

Gorgeous *Arthouse* has a subtle mulberry edge on the falls. I love this Iris!

Look at the delicate cream edges on the falls and standards of *Teenybopper*:

*Striking* has a stitched narrow pale mauve edge on the falls, and a much wider edge of the same color on the standards:

*Bengal Tiger* has a bright gold edge on the falls that exactly matches the bright gold standards:

The edge on the falls of *Tennison Ridge* is layered lighter to darker as it goes outward:

Look at the tan edges on the falls of *Indulgence*:

*Parquet Lady* has a wide bronze edge on the falls, and a narrower version on the standards:

Wierd *Vapor* has a narrow beige edge on the falls:

Not a good picture -- but "Cupid's Arrow* has a wide, bright burgundy band on the falls:

*Burgundy Party*'s narrow tan edge really stands out against the almost red falls:

Can't miss the edge on *Sweeter Than Wine*:

Or the soft purple edges on *Designer Art*:

Mary Ann ~ you guys do a good job in the "pleasing" department! Thumbs up Another Woman sure looks a lot like Louisa's Song, which I planted last summer. I suppose side by side the differences would be obvious? Or not? Some varieties are so similar I am confused why they are introduced. I had Rare Treat and Blue Staccato which were planted next to each other and I found it almost impossible to tell them apart. Confused (I know I mentioned this in another post but it's the first example that comes to mind) I know you guys will set me straight!!!

Patty I agree with you. As my growing space is small I have to be creative. If I have the option to get two iris that are almost alike I will only choose one. Sometimes the only difference will be the beards and I go for the contrasting color in the beard. With the newer varieties I think ruffling and edging make enough difference that it is easier to tell them apart.

Vi -- I've made a note that if Eagle's Flight needs to be thinned this year, I'll send you a rhizome!!

OK -- back to edges. Tom you really started something here!! Patty -- I loved seeing *Glamorama* and *By Jeeves*. By Jeeves is SO special! Lovey dubby

This is *Suncatcher* -- a standout in the garden, it's yellow is so bright. The falls are edged in yellow, and also have yellow veins:

The wide purple edges on *Gypsy Lord* are visible across the yard:

My mysterious NOID White/Purple has narrow white edges on the falls. This is either *Wabash* or *Bright Hour*. I'll know in the Spring when I can check to see if it has purple-base foliage or not.
Thumb of 2014-01-19/Muddymitts/daca35

*Crash Course* has tan edges on the falls, but it's so beautifully blended with the plum center that it's hard to tell where the plum ends and the tan starts:

*Hello It's Me* -- a new addition last year.

*Cast of Characters* -- another one where the edge blends so gently:
