It's a miniature. I bought it at an independent nursery as I found it interesting & very orange. (I try & encourage myself to love flowers in colors not normally my favorite. Otherwise I'd only have purple flowers!)

It was blooming profusely, with a bright orange bud on each long, longer than typical stem, one per.

I stuck it in w the tomato 'cause it matched & it bloomed until late December.

Here's what it looks like now, a much lighter orange. The flower is full and roundish? & the bud is squat & plump.

The foliage is very green & as I described, the stems grow long & straight (for a mini) then bud one to a stem.

It's delicate & lovely w no fragrance & a typical amount of thorns.

It was called: orange mini & it was cheap. Now that it's mine, I feel like I should know its name.

You guys are so helpful!

What a lovely little rose!!
There is a miniature called 'Cornsilk' that looks very similar to this rose.
'Loving Touch' is also a similar colour but I know for a fact that 'loving touch' usually has 3 blooms per stem.

Another beauty, Cornsilk. HMF says it's fragrant & alas this cutie is not. She's likely listed as orange although she looks yellower now.

What about Jean Kenneally??? It looks more apricot than yours but its always hard to tell as they change under different conditions. She's an exhibition form of mini which to me would indicate that she has longer stems and only one bloom per stem.

You're sweet to try & help. I love that you write "colour."

I checked Jean K (she's one I've always wanted now that you remind me) but no if I understand what "blooms in flushes" means -- also it suggests a mild fragrance & mine has none. Plus when I bought her she was really orange. Do they paint roses like some golf course greens?

I should check the rose databases myself, huh?

Since it's scentless, I'd aim towards the Kordes family. They make wonderful roses, but many are scentless.

Alexandra? http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (no ATP entry for the miniature)
Belami? http://www.kordes-rosen.com/ko... (the ATP shows a completely different rose)
Solero? http://www.kordes-rosen.com/ko...

Time of year, amount of heat/cool/water.. all those change the color of the rose I've found from my experience. But then again, I have really wild fluctuations of temperature, too.

I found listings for those three Kordana roses on rosebook.ru, Toni, and all three are described as fragrant.

We don't see that many Kordana roses in the local nurseries here. I think the California market for minis belongs almost completely to Poulsen. The Poulsen minis are even carried in the grocery stores here. It's probably a Poulsen rose because they are mostly scentless.

Well, fudge. LOLLL I just know that my Kordes are pretty much scentless, or maybe I have a broken nose. Poulsen was the other I was thinking of but couldn't remember the name.. just could remember "Parade" roses, but googling "parade rose" is futility in itself.

The Poulsen website is hopeless. If you click on "Rose collections," you'll get a list of the various types (Palace, Parade, etc.), but the links to those types are broken, so you can't get any photos.

Zuzu ...

Greenheart Farms bought Tiny Petals and Nor'East and I believe is also the primary distributor a lot of the Frank Benardella roses. They have re-named some of the roses they are distributing including deVink's 'Cinderella' and Ralph Moore's 'Earthquake'. GH Farms is selling plugs to both small nurseries and the big box store producers and are not selling any of the roses retail or mail order.

I have found several florists selling Kordes miniature roses, but not in the super markets.

@JulieB, I don't recognize the rose in your photo, but I do know it is not Jean K. The bloom form is too globular. I am fairly certain it is not a Bennett rose.

Smiles,
Lyn

More thanks! I figured @RoseBlush1 you'd know its name!

OK, not painted. It was growing in the shade in Louie's Nursery so that could explain its current pastel shade (pastels aren't normally all that welcome here!) It's happy w the tomatoes & it's a pretty thing.
