I like glads but they do flop a lot unless the bulbs are planted deep.

Yeah, I use the netting because I plant a wide row (for market), but they still flop. I think I'm supposed to use two layers of netting! Hilarious!

There was a woman on DG,who grew glads to sell at market. She planted her bulbs in a deep trench and still had some flopping.
When I saw "dwarf" in the label I figured shorter plants but NO, it was smaller blooms. I liked them in containers because the leaves made a nice composition, but they had to be staked or cut after blooming.
I might try them again.

Oh, that's funny because I just ordered some dwarf glads this year thinking the same thing!
If I have time, maybe this year I will get around to double netting them. I use netting for snappys too and that works pretty good, it just gets messy if the weeds take over, which they did this year.

I have good luck with the variety of Snapps that reseeds.
I dont know why I dont order more of the tall ones. Maybe I will look in stores here. The only kind the locals sell are the mixed packs.I like to choose the colors to compliment the lilies and nepetas.

It's funny, I used to have good luck with snappys that reseed when I lived in MD but I've had very few reseed here in GA, PLUS, very few survive the winter and except for this winter, they have been mild. I was very disappointed. Jennifer (jvdubb) always has tons of snappy babies!

I started growing some of the LaBella series. I really like them but they are more open mouthed than the regular ones. Sort of reminds me of a large penstemon and I love penstemon.

I love penstemon too.I have Red Husker,Blue Selection and Dark Towers.
This is what happens when I am trapped in the house for days on end with sub zero temps.
I have already added to my Brent and Beckys order.
Maybe by the time the annual season is here I will have focused on something else.

I did the Piggy Seed Swap this year and I will be getting some penstemon seeds, I think Dark Towers for sure. Maybe something else. I also ordered seeds for the NEW Arabesce Red, bright red with a white throat. I don't know how to import photos from the database but it's in there already. It's just gorgeous! I got 100 seeds and I gave some to Jen. I have a couple Electric Blue I started from seed but not sure they will survive this winter. I had a lot more but I lost them because of all the rain last year. Thumbs down They are one of the flowers I just enjoy and don't even try to use as a cut flower! Hilarious!

I understand, a lot of people don't. I just got Jennifer to try WS last year, I usually start all her seeds for her. It takes practice. WS is easier but you can't do everything that way. I believe penstemon works well though. Hmm, maybe I'll try some both ways this year. I'll let you know if I am successful, possibly I could send you a plant or two? Thumbs up

I WS annual Poppies. I am arthritic and really try to garden without bending too much so that means I seed where the plants will grow and dont need thining.
I believe I have Penstemon Mystica too
Here it is with Tiger Baby lily.

I think if you want images off the database you can right click the image and "save as" to a new file on your hard drive.

Yep. Now when I do an article I can add photos myself. If I ever get all my photos on one computer and organized I would probably not have to use from the database but right now I have 4 computers with photos...crazy!
