@Dave ...

Is there any way for those of us who cannot recieve the ATP Podcast to access the information via text ? I feel like I am missing out on some very good information.

Lyn

We've discussed this in the past and although I agree it would be amazing and wonderful, it is not possible. Until someone volunteers to transcribe them, the only option is to just listen in.

Unfortunately, that is not an option for me.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Anyone out there with Dragon software to automatically transcribe it? Big Grin

Hmm, somewhere I do have Dragon...not installed, in the box still, but I can't seem to locate it right now.

I did try transcribing by hand once since that's what I did freelance, but didn't get very far.

There's so much back and forth, I just can't see how it would be possible. Sometimes when things get heated we even talk over each other a little bit. That's the main difficulty with an automated transcription.

Not so much the back and forth, that was all it is about in court transcribing, but the format for the podcast is so informal, it's hard to format. And it wouldn't be the same if you just transcribed the meat and potatoes of it. It would lose so much.

Yes you are missing something, I find the pod cast very entertaining and enjoyable. Can you tell us why you can't receive the pod cast? I really do think you would enjoy it.

@Seedfork......

It's just a matter of living in an area where we do not really have good internet service. I could have gone with a satellite connection, but I would have had to purchase a "bundle" of services which I don't use. We do have a fairly new company that uses microwave technology to connect to broad band, but you have to have line-of-site to one of their towers. They finally installed a tower that gave me the line-of-site I needed to use their service.

Right now, all I can get through my speakers attached to my computer is static ... yes, they are connected properly. My next step is to take my computer into the one PC store up here to have it checked out and I may have to purchase new speakers. They finally have a tech that is really a great problem solver.

I just want to say that there is so much good information on this site and such helpful people that even if I don't solve the problem of getting the pod cast, I love this site and am learning a lot.

Lyn

Could be your soundcard, too. Had that problem with my older computer. Good luck with getting it sorted out!

Oh, if you have a set of headphones you might plug them in and try. If you get static out of them too, I would certainly suspect the sound card is bad.

Good idea! The sound card on my laptop is going out, the sound is very low and scratchy. What I discovered is that when I plug in my headphones, just the ones that came with my phone, the sound is perfect and the volume is fine. Not sure why, perhaps it isn't the sound card but the speakers. It's been great though, and I've been able to put off buying a new laptop. Definitely give that a try before doing anything too expensive or difficult.

I think that indicate your speakers are bad, but I suppose you could have an on board card that would do for headphones, and still a separate card for good speakers.

Great that it all worked out. FYI if your have a Mac & Safari you can highlight the text in the article, select "speech" on the pull down of Edit and you will get the article read to you as you enjoy the photos and such. Try it, very cool.
