Muddymitts said:Greg -- that's what I liked about that pink one too -- that white *stripe* down the center of the fall. I noticed that tendency on the lavender Iris too (5th one). Marvin -- are the pink and lavender Irises related?
sorry I took so long getting back to you. The two iris are not related and I hadn't really noticed that feature until you guys pointed it out. thank you. Do you think I should cross these two? I can just see a pink with a white stripe down the middle and a brown hairline edge on the standards.
I saw it right away too, Greg. Marvin -- I think you're onto something here. This could be your contribution to the Iris world!!! People would refer to it for decades to come *the Davis stripe on the falls*!!
Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com)
Oooh my, Marvin! You have some absolutely wonderful irises!
I really like the red one you posted, as well as all of the pretty pastels! You white is beautiful too!
Your purples and lavenders are lovely too!
Alright... I confess! I like ALL of them!
Hugs- Christy
PS- my Rosy Wings and your red iris might be fun to cross.
Thanks Christy. Do you mean the red with the darker hafts? I think I discarded that one for lack of modern styling. No ruffles, not wide enough falls. But I have since had many comments about it for the unusual markings. Maybe I should have kept it. Can't keep them all.
I am not familiar with 'Rosy Wings'. Did you say it was one of yours?
There are other traits besides flowers to watch. the brown nearly reverse amoena is interesting. I bought Duane Meek's 'Party's Over' last summer which is mainly a reverse because I have a similar SDB of Paul Black's to try & cross onto it.
