The last three pics look to be the same species to me. Sorghastrum nutans.

Are we to assume this is wild central Illinois?

Are these in wetland or dryland prairie?

From central Illinois' remote wilds, a state park around a lake. A lot of the area is left to nature. Season is fall, Sept I think. First one is about a foot or so tall, the others 2 or 3 ft tall. Although bordering a lake, I'd say more dryland prairie in regards to the last 3 pics. The 1st pic is in from a more lowland area, next to an area that once hosted a farmhouse before the area got flooded 50 plus years ago. Thanks.
