I had a dl named Sand Pebbles I bought from Wild's one year. I was going to add a pic to the database, but nothing comes up under that name specifically. There is a Wimberlyway Sand Pebbles. The pic does look similar to mine. I did a google search and found plenty of links to either name. Are they the same thing? There is no Sand Pebbles registered when I did a search on AHS. I am just thinking that alot of companies probably drop the W part because it is lengthy. What do you all think?

I have finally discovered that there are 2. The one I had was Sand Pebbles. If anyone knows where I can get this daylily please let me know. I did a google search w/o much luck. When I search the database here "Sand Pebbles" does not come up for me? The photos I have submitted to Wimberlyway Sand Pebbles are incorrect.

I don't see it in the database here either but I notice the AHS database does not have a picture, maybe you could send them one?

https://www.daylilies.org/Dayl...

Edit: Looks like it is listed in the NGA database as 'Sand Peebles". I've put in an edit request to correct it.

It is confusing because G Wild will drop parts of the name off. For instance Lady Lucille by Blooms of Bressingham just becomes Lady Lucille. Or Longfield's Bogeyman just became Bogey Man. Or Wise Man, which is a Wild cultivar was sold to me as Wiseman. But as Hortoholic ( Pat) mentioned in another post, GWild was bought out by a bigger operation and got rid of all the original Wild cultivars. So all bets are off over there. They sold me a bunch of unregistered cultivars that were probably random NOIDS in a field somewhere and they picked out a bunch of red ones and called them all Little Red Wagon. I have no actual evidence of this but I think it's a realistic hunch. I was just buying large cheap collections of " These will never be sold again!" to fill up my hill, before I found this site. Now I know better! But every Daylily in those collections had a name and description, even if they aren't here on AGA or the AHS site. So it's all very mysterious...

I absolutely can't stand GWild. When I first started out buying dl (pre-internet, back when you just had a paper catalog) I bought so many things I later found out were mislabeled. I bet half I bought there was not what it was supposed to be, they don't stand by their guarantee either. Then they started selling pricey plants (after they were sold to the new company) for really cheap and my eye brows went up. The old Wild ones were awesome, and now they are near impossible to find many. They shot themselves in the foot so many times I honestly don't know how they are still in business. Every plant they ever sent me needed life support for at least the first season, maybe two. Once internet came around and I realized there were thousands to choose from and many other nurseries of higher caliber, I have never used them again.

Yep. Although, I did buy a few this year, as they owed me money and for the first time ever, the plants came nicely wrapped in a peat medium. And every single plant they sent is actually looking very good. Maybe they got so many complaints and lost so much business that they learned their lesson? I'm not sure, but as you said, I can do a lot better using sources from here.
