I really like the coloring pattern on the last one of the first set. If it were less ruffly it would be a keeper.

What's going on with the beard of the first one of the second set? I can't quite figure it out, but it seems possibly interesting.

I like the pattern on the standards of that one, too, except I'd say it would be a keeper if it had more ruffles. And better substance as well. Smiling

Nothing really, just weather damage. It is a testament to the strength of petals on that seedling, though. They came through some pretty bad weather relatively intact (some damage is visible if you look closely enough).

I don't usually do very many SDB crosses, but the seedlings I do have are starting to bloom. Some of these are holdovers from last year, so I might have showed them before

The Cat's Eye replica that I've been using as a breeder
Thumb of 2014-05-03/KentPfeiffer/9b65b1

When this one first opened, I thought "Wow, that's ugly", but it's starting to grow on me. The lavender wash on the fall reminds a bit of some of the Blyth TBs
Thumb of 2014-05-03/KentPfeiffer/7af119

Cute little variagata, the white beards set it apart from some others I've seen. Blooms its little heart out, too.

Don't know what to make of this one.

I mostly pitch yellow seedlings as soon at they bloom, but this one's kind of neat.

The falls on this one are an interesting shade when they open, but they fade pretty quickly to a fairly dull color.

When it opened, I thought "another Cat's Eye replica", but it's actually different. Cat's Eye has brown-tipped beards, but the seedling has solid rich lavender beards. It's also "redder".

I Like Every Single One of Those, Kent!!!!! Especially the second one you aren't sure of, and the kind of neat yellow that is REALLY neat to me (and I don't much care for yellows, either). Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Woowoo! Thank you for posting the photographs. Thumbs up I tip my hat to you.

I like "the cute little variegata" -- and the one that you "don't know what to make of". I also like the ugly one with the lavender wash. I don't think it's ugly at all!! And I agree with Paul -- I like the second to the last one too. Smiling Oh -- and I like the Cat's Eye replica that isn't.

That's just about all of them, isn't it? Green Grin!

I really like that second one, and the yellow one, and the light blue one. Also the next to last one. A great bunch of seedlings Kent! Hurray!

Look what you made Kent!!! I am super impressed! They are all very pretty. Even the one you say the color fades after opening would be like legerdemain. And you are right about the cat's eye. It has great form but the color is more striking than the original. The beards look bigger too. The one with the lavender wash on the falls has great beards and very nice form. All keepers. And I like yellow irises so the one that has pale standards and white rim on yellow falls is lovely. The little blue one with the blue beard - I think about the tenth one down - is my pick from the photos. I think all are great.

Another vote here for the variegata. No way that's not a keeper. Also, the one below it would look great as a whole clump of blooms, I'm thinking.

I like them all (what's wrong with yellow) but agree that the variegata (which seems to have a different beard) is especially lovely.

Thanks, everyone. There's nothing wrong with yellow irises, of course. It's just hard to get a yellow seedling that's very different than what's already available. Smiling
