We had a very good time yesterday at the Deep Cut Orchid Society Show and I took some pictures to share. The show is still ongoing to Sunday!

And some of the vendor tables, although Ecuagenera and Parkside were still missing when I took these pictures and probably made it yesterday later in the afternoon.
There were a lot of beautiful plants to be had. Take a close look at the Neofinetia falcata seedlings - Shutenno for 16 bucks at the Heart's Ease table.

Thanks for sharing Ursula! Wish we had nice shows like that. That Phal. in the third row looks like the one I just posted in the "I just bought" thread. I couldn't quite make out the name though.

Carol, the pretty Phal was Baldan's Kaleidoscope 'Golden Treasure' , and the pattern on this one was particularly nice. As it should be! Smiling

Outstanding show, Ursula, Thank You,

I often wonder, is it control of the lighting/fert/water that let's growers always have the plants in bloom at show/sale time?

Bert, the really large Coelogyne in pic 11 is mossiae, and there were underneath that one some smaller plants of Unchained Melody. We thought they looked the same. Luckily the first morning of the show has the judges about doing their job. ( that's why the exhibits are not yet showing any exhibitor sign) So we asked one of the judges how to tell the difference between mossiae and Unchained Melody. He admitted after some hmmm and hmmm, he had a hard time with that too. He actually grew up in the region where mossiae grows and he still couldn't really keep them apart. Fascinating!!

edited to add - Ted, I could imagine it is perhaps a combination of good growing and natural blooming cycles and some light/temp manipulation with others.

Ursula, I'm at the point that I think the original naming was flawed, so the hybrids may have been natural hybrids also, with some var/location differences but ended up being named diff species. I'm trying to collect as many as possible to compare for myself. I do not have mossiae, but I think it is Like my UM. I love the dark lip color of Jannine Banks, the cross should be more intermediate and easier to grow here in Memphis. Thx again for the pictures.

Bert, do you grow pandurata or Burfordiense?

I have trouble with the large growing warm growers, space and warmth year round. I do have coel pandorata 'Kona' bought about 6months ago. I've got my new vanda's with it so I'll remember it's care. Also massageana, tometosa ,asperata and rochussenii. I believe those are all my warm growers. Others are mostly leathery leaves and intermediate to cool growers.

I use the kitchen maid trays to take them daily to get their shower, like my vanda trays and all my coel are in bonsai pots.

Ohhh, beautiful plants, Bert!! Everything looks so healthy! Thumbs up It must be quite a job to get everything watered, although you are obviously very well organized.
I bought last year ( I think) a Coel rochussenii, hopefully it blooms this year. I do grow Burfordiense, and yes, that one gets humongous! And I have 2 "clumps" of fimbriata, which seem to just grow, but not bloom for a while. And there is the Golden Bug which just finished blooming. And a couple more odds and ends.

They are a group of orchids that have done well for me thru the years and I can count on them, very little fuss and disease and pest resistant.
