I've had a lot of fun making spheres out of hanging baskets, or using a topiary sphere filled with panty hose with soil in them all coiled up. Whatever works...
This is the bigger type, made with two hanging baskets wired together, with their coir liners filled with Sunshine Mix #4. This is the third winter for it, so we'll see how it looks when it emerges. The spaces left by dying Semps get filled with either the chicks from the remaining ones, or I will fill them in; I don't 'plant' them, just set the chicks on the surface where they root quickly.
Here is the panty hose sphere and a link to more images and how-to on Hometalk;
