Can anyone tell me what type of succulent this is? I've had it for about 6 years and it's never really grown any bigger.

Have you checked out the Salicornias? I'm not certain that's what this is but it does resemble some of them.

I don't think so. I can't even remember where I got it.

Has it ever produced leaves or bloomed? Are the white nodes on it prickly?

The white nodes look like areole. I think it is a cactus in Opuntioideae but I don't know which species.
It remember me of some Tephrocactus, like here

No, Growtail, they are soft fine hairs. It's never produced any leaves or blooms and I've had it at least 5 years.

It reminds me of my Austrocylindropuntia subulata when it has no leaves. But your plants looks a bit stressed in growth. Shrug!
This is my plant for comparison: depending on the season, sometimes it has those pointy leaves, sometimes just hairlike growth on the nodules..sometimes prickly thorns on the nodes.

I don't know. I've had it for years, grow it in partial shade (so I don't think it's stress) and it's always been this color. Matter of fact when new shoots form they are a light reddish brown.
