My first memory of "gardening" was in kindergarten, when we saved the milk carton we got in school, cut the top off, and planted a marigold to give to "Mom" on Mother's Day.
I traveled down my memory lane right along with you, Arlene! I have such a love for all those same plants as well. Even now all these years later, my garden is never without zinnias and marigolds.
Thank you.
Same here on the memory lane. I can still remember mom saying to me over 45 years ago. It was the first house where we lived after we got married and she said you should plant some portulaca. I still think of her every year when I see it blooming. Such bright and happy colors. Marigolds are hubby's favorite and I love all the other flowers you mentioned as well. Great article Arlene - Thank You
A lovely article, Arlene! There is something so magical about starting plants from seeds. And I love the French Marigolds! I forgot to start any last year and I missed them.
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

So very true, Arlene. It is truly a wonderful sight to behold when the seeds we've been waiting (with abated breathe) on comes to life! The seeds I've sown in Jan. are starting to wake up...it is so exciting to see them grow bigger & bigger every day.
Arlene, you are going to make a gardener out of her for sure. Just keep on gardening and showing her all the wonderful veggies and flowers that you grow.
