You are only one zone warmer than I am and I am still planting daylilies. If it were me I would put them in the ground. In the warmer zones they probably would be better put in pots.

Being you are new to daylilies experiment some to find out what actually does best where you are and in your own garden. Some of the plants will have several fans some maybe only one, but try a few in pots and a few in the ground. The amount of rain you get in your area, or the availability you have to watering your plants will have a lot to do with it. We normally go though a drought period during the summer and I try to avoid transplanting during August and September, not saying you actually couldn't do it then.
The plants I personally received from wilds were very small, but had an excellent root system so I think you would be alright doing it either in the ground or in pots, but a little of each might be a good learning experience. Just keep in mind that plants in the heat of summer that are in pots will have to be very closely monitored and watered normally at least once a day, those in the ground after a week or two could maybe get by with twice a week watering during dry spells.

I was out of town for a few days so I actually missed the FFO on Tuscawilla Tigress, but I think this is the second bloom on the March purchase from Wild's. Not nearly as bright of an Orange as I was hoping for, but it is a nice size bloom.

More excellent choices! Thumbs up Hope we get to see some pictures when they arrive. Even the type of daylily root that each carries is of interest (not how much root, but what type) ... wo while it often seems from picture parades like daylilies must be sprouting flowers directly from the ground ( Rolling on the floor laughing ) it is even more interesting what type of rooting system is powering the daylily from the "basement" nodding

And, then, of course ... soon enough we'd all enjoy seeing their blooms, as well! Hurray!

Yep, looking forward to pics of all those, I had Strutters Ball, purchased from Lowe's, beautiful, but only lasted that season, never returned. I will be watching to see how your plant from Wild's does. Looks like you are off to a good start.

Oh, oh....looks like something not-so-good is going on at Wild's:

213 positives
23 neutrals
57 negatives (new ones too)

I have to say daylilies I got from them earlier this year are doing fine and proceeding with blooming.

Got out pretty early this morning wanting to see the bloom on 'Lavender Stardust' being I was not around for the FFO.
I was not disappointed, it had two lovely blooms on it, hard to believe how small these plants were just back in March.

'Lavender Stardust':

I guess as an early morning bonus, I was also awarded with the FFO on 'Sunday Gloves', this is the first near white to bloom in my garden, not really white but pretty close, and maybe as the blooms mature a little more it will get even more white.
'Sunday Gloves'"

And to top the morning off I had another bloom on Tuscawilla Tigress:

Awesome Blossom is still lagging behind, but it is starting to catch up a little.

Rose Emily and Lavender Stardust are really nice, Seedfork.

Although I have a few dips at this time, I've been trying to avoid spending more money on them currently until the tet stock is built up.
These two you posted do have some really positive attributes that might invoke consideration.

Received this e-mail on June 11th. Sad that they have been delayed, but glad that they are keeping me updated.

E-mail:
Thank you for your order. We were planning on shipping your order this week, if the rain stops, and BUT they are now forecasting 70% chance of up to 2 inches of rain tomorrow. We hope to start shipping again on Friday 6/13. The rain will cause a week delay in getting you your order. We are sorry!

We HAND dig all of our plants from the fields to give you the best results in your garden. The great part of fresh dug plants is you get the best, highest quality plants. The bad part is this situation where we cannot dig becasue of all the rain.

We will send an e-mail when the order is shipped which contains the tracking number and the estimated delivery.

Thank You for your patience!

Sincerely

Greg Jones

"Have no patience for bare ground"
My first round of daylilies as I mentioned before came from G. Wild. They are monster clumps now despite how small they were originally. I got a few from them this spring that is still in water. I hope to get them in the ground today.
Tiptonla, Welcome! !! I plant directly into the ground. Potted plants have to be monitored closely especially if they are in full sun. If you are going to do that keep them close to the spigot. I think it's double work to plant in pots and then in the ground, unless you are preparing a place for them in the garden. This is why I put them in water. Don't drown them!! Just enough to keep their feet wet. I change the water every few day to control mosquitoes and to ward off rotting from old stale water. I think most of Wilds bad reviews came from gardeners that were expecting more.

It has rained and rained and rained here. We have been trying to pour concrete for several weeks and the rain has prevented that. Our yard is so mucky, there is no way a concrete truck can access our project site. We have had terrible weather, more like march or april weather than June. even the temps have been lower than usual. I am pretty tired of it Sad I had some iris rot and my tomatoes are not going to do anything this year.

Had lots of blooms in the garden today, but I selected these to post as they are all from my purchase from Wild's back in March of this year.

Most of my daylilies are from Gilbert H Wild, and they're doing great now that they're established in the flower bed. I potted them for the 1st year.
