That's a long wall and I planted six (!!) in three beds with roses in between. They smothered the roses and I had to move them all. I love the flowers - and so do the butterflies - but they are monsters.

I prune mine when I prune the roses every year. Maybe the white duranta is a little less crazy than the purple. It's easily maintaned at 4-5 feet by pruning it hard when I prune my roses. By hard I mean, knee height.

I'm terrible about pruning so I let it - and just about everything else - run rampant. I did just prune the roses back some, but I don't cut the duranta until spring.

Wow Alma - it's huge, and beautiful! I had plans to plant mine in the ground - even had the hole dug - then the storm blew the pot over and it broke - lol. And now it's dead. Becky to the rescue - lol.

Nice looking duranta's all around! I think I prefer the white. I had a large purple at my previous house. Just wild and crazy like Alma's. I tore it out and put in Cat's Claw.... didn't know sitt from nothin' at that time. Tore that out and put in some Canna's.... against block wall around pool equipment. I wish we could pass this information on genetically. Why do I have to learn everything new when my parents already figured it out?
