They have been navigating from deep shade where they bloomed less to more open spaces and are just beginning to bloom.. These began from a small pot I bought at one of the rare plant sales.

Pretty!
Mine have scattered to various parts of the yard... no blooms yet. I think mine are in too much shade at the moment.

Susie - that's what mine have done. Didn't happen for several years, now growing several feet away from where I planted them.

Maire - no idea of the name. I think the stick in the pot just said wild or maybe sweet violets. They remind me of the wild violets we used to pick by the handful back in Ohio for the May altar.

Have no luck with Australian violets tho. Bought a pot of them at a Tucson yard sale. Get a few blooms but they are really struggling.

OK then. I don't feel too bad. But the person I bought them from in Tucson had a wonderful patch of them.

Lynn has the Australian violets and I saw them growing like crazy. She gave me a little pot of them and I killed them!

Mine grow like crazy. Spreading. But, I think too much shade for the moment... I'm going to dig a couple up and put them in the sun to see what happens!

We need to find out what kind Susie has. Maybe those are what we need to try.

I'll post a pick later tonight. They look like HaroldS but the leaves seem darker/purplier... might be from the shade. HaroldS look much brighter than mine. Mine a deep green. Bright, med purple flower

Violets I have growing and spreading in my yard. None have bloomed yet this year. I think they may need a little more sun! I'd say the photo is their true color. Darker green than HaroldS, I think.

I think none of the various patches of violet clumps froze. Even the clumps in shade. Strange.
