That is a gorgeous container! Have you posted that photo in the Multi-Plant Photos?

*Blush* need to retrieve the tags for the varieties of the other annuals. I know the scavola was a "mounding" more compact variety, the ipomea is "witch" something and the Cypress is dwarf something. Tags are frozen in the pot. I started leaving the tags along the inside edge of the pots just under the soil level when I plant the containers up. That way I know where to find the tags.

Yes, Heliotrope sprouts in 6 days! Whoo Hoo!

But Canterbury Bells? old seeds from 2010 sprouted 6 days also, but a new 2014 packet has not sprouted?
But by night time the new ones had sprouted too. Need a magniying glass to see them ---they are tiny.

Oh, that's great! That darn heliotrope is expensive to buy as plants.
My few leftover seeds haven't done anything yet, but they aren't taking up much room, so we'll just see. Gotta get some fresh seeds for them. Hmmm, I think I may have some old Canterbury bell seeds. I'm planting C. pyramidalis, so maybe I'll try a few of the shorter ones, too. I'm kind of late getting things started; I just got the GH cleaned up a few days ago.

I just now have germination of two seedlings from those old, 2008 seed that were stored at room-temp. I used the baggie method. They were from a trade and were collected from someone's plant so there was a bunch of chaff and unripe seed in the mix, so I'm not sure how many ripe seeds I even sowed. I'm happy with even two seedlings, though! Fingers crossed now that I don't kill the tiny things. Smiling

Hurray! Two are better than what I have so far! Heh, I broke down and ordered some new seeds on a free shipping order from Parks. Hope they get here in time for this year. Rolling my eyes.

Anyone know how to collect the seeds? I have this over wintered one in the greenhouse I was hoping to gather seeds from, but then I thought, no bees, maybe they won't even be viable?

After killing about 100 seeds I finally got the heliotrope to germinate. I keep the grow light on 24/7 but at what stage do I start turning it off at night?

Welcome @gasm2970 Welcome!

I usually keep my lights on for 18 hours a day from the start (although I confess to never having grown Heliotrope)
