What does anyone think of an additional database field with perhaps a drop-down list (or not) of general plant care and maintenance. I often am at a loss what to do with plants after they bloom - deadhead as they fade, cut the whole thing to the ground, cut it back hard but leave some foliage, etc. Although I don't do much specific fertilizing, some plants do benefit from scratching in amendments other than plain ol' compost. And when to prune - before or after bloom, when dormant, etc. This type of information could be added as a comment, but I've not found that very often. It would need to be a bit generic, i.e., prune when buds swell, rather than prune in February, to be useful for different zones.

I'm not certain but I think it was a topic of discussion some time ago and decided that the comments section for each plant would be the place to share our growing conditions for the particular plant. It's also helpful if each commentator mention location where we live (part of the country) to be helpful to others in that area. It sure would be helpful for folks to list the area of the country/world where they live and garden; pruning time is much different for me here in central Florida than for someone farther north.

Yes, we did discuss it a while back but I don't notice that many folks do add growing comments. Perhaps what would be more appropriate would be a 'nudge' on the home page of the plant to utilize the comments for that purpose? I'm always on the lookout for what to do when with different plants to keep them looking good.
