Sunny today and almost 50, but still a definite chill in the shade. Hope the weather holds through the weekend.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Although the cows and horses are keeping the grass eaten down in the pastures, the front "lawn" was growing wildly so I "mowed" it today in my usual fashion with the shredder. I knew there was a hose stretched out along the front fenceline, but I didn't think I could actually drive the tractor close enough to snag it - HA! Do you know what a mess it makes when you run a shredder over a hose? It took me quite a while to cut all the twists and knots from around the blades (which I noticed are about as sharp as a broom handle!) Who would have thought it could wrap around so many different ways so fast? And I very nearly did the whole thing again with a hose in front of the barn... but the front yard does look a little better.

Someone here did that with the lawnmower once, and the hose was on.
Stan had the same experience with a long piece of smooth wire that the Amish kids next door had dragged into the hayfield next door to them. talk about a lost day and a whole lot of cussing.

Ditto with the lawn mower/hose interaction. LOL We had been gone for a week in the summer and the grass had grown like gangbusters..........I didn't even see it (or, obviously even REMEMBER it was strung out). The SU wasn't particularly happy about it...........what a tangled up mess under the deck. Rolling on the floor laughing

Sunny, cold and windy here. Not so cold really, 45, it's the wind that makes the difference. The greenhouse is pleasant. I need to be starting some seeds soon. A neighbor gave me several starts of tomato varieties I haven't grown. My usual seed starting is about April 15, so that I have 6 week old plants to set out when most of the frost danger has passed.

In those hose encounters with machinery, the hose always looses. Wire, well, that's a different story. Neither one will make the machinery operator happy.

Kathleen, I wasn't aware that you have Amish neighbors.

I thought the hose was winning.

I have done the wire thing too, and it is harder to remove.

Today I repaired hotwire on the back paddocks which wasn't working. I found a break and a grounded spot. When I tested it after my repairs, I was a bit careless with how I held the test light and found out first hand just HOW well it was now working! Today is only half done; I wonder what else I can do stupid? Must be time for a vacation... ha, ha, ha.

in our immediate neighborhood, and in the township, they vastly outnumber "us". They are, for the most part, good neighbors, but as Stan likes to say, they are just people like the rest of us. There are a few that are not so, and some who think they are owed the world, but that's no different than us "English".

It was a great idea to plant them along there at the base of that raised bed.

Yes, it was a great idea. I like the stone work behind the upper flower bed.

Today we had a few minutes of a snow shower, but mostly cloudy with the sun popping through at times. Most nights are still below freezing, with days in the 40's and even up into the 50's a time or two. It's nice to see all that green.
