Everybody was right about mine being OK. I left the leaves on until the end of Feb. and then I trimmed them off. The leaves were crispy and brittle but the stems were gooey and slimey. but I trimmed them where Ray suggested in one of the photo's earlier in this thread and here is what they look like today.

Have I waited to long to cut one of the pups off and transplant it in another section of my yard?

Looks good Dan. Way to go.

Detrick: The part that becomes the inflo would be what looks like the pith in your photo and its surrounded by the leaves.

i know that it will be in the center of the stem but it is wood, right? are you saying that the color is like the pith?

dan, those are coming back nicely! don't look like you had much of any damage from the BFF.

here is my dwarf orinoco in a 18-gal container. you can see that the mother plant was cut down after the BFF. the pups were cut back below the ground! the mother plant started pushing out growth. then, the pups came back from the ground. the mother plant stalled. i was told that removing the pups will not make her perform any different. Crying i am sure she would have flowered this year. i am going to leave everything together and put them in a 30-gal pot.

they get full sun and looked beat up. perhaps, i need to hit them with a good dose of fertilizer and give them some shade.

I know...I'm getting that twitching, itching, wanting to buy snag again. I've already tried two and they died. I think they were demanding more water than I would give them...I'm not going to buy another one!! I have to put my foot down on this..........................................................maybe!

The only one I really, really, really, want to try is the blue java ice cream banana plant. As I said, I've killed two of them already :(
