Wow, what a uniqe plant and quite dangerous looking...Ouch!

I know! Its one I got in PortlandOR, finally getting around to posting photos! I read up on it more, and its going to get yellow blooms!! Its a mini which I love that! And its hardy around here! And as long as I use fast draining soil the rain won't bother it either! Hooray

Some of the South American cacti are remarkably hardy. Here's a Maihuenia spp. (looks like M. poeppigii but I'm not absolutely sure) growing outdoors in a Calgary rock garden (zone 3):

Lori that does look exactly like what I have, and on the label is does say zone 3!! I love hardy succulents! How could I have lived so long not knowing about them It makes it so much easier to figure out a way to keep them dry than to move them in and out each winter and summer
