Is anyone else having trouble with the ATP and Cubits sites? For the last three days, I've been having intermittent problems connecting to the sites and navigating them after connecting. Sometimes certain features refuse to work, and a few times any attempt to disconnect from the ATP and Cubits tabs has frozen the computer, necessitating a restart.

I've been having problems with pages loading Zuzu. In general it feels like a slow connection for the past few days.

I've been working on species entries, Evan, and sometimes I can't click on the box to change "Accepted" to "Synonym" and vice versa. It's frustrating.

Ouch, definitely frustrating. The site has hung up when approving an entry and I had to close FFox. I've been thinking it was my connection. Shrug!

I also experienced some network connectivity problems today. In fact, today I've had several minutes at a time where the site was completely unavailable.

I put in a ticket with my upstream provider to find out what's going on. Hopefully they will get this resolved soon. I pay pretty good money for our servers' internet service and I expect 100% uptime.

I heard back from the data center with their explanation of what happened on March 5th. Hopefully they are able to keep this problem under control going forward.

At 18:30 CST, a large inbound DDOS attack causing high latency to
cxswitch02.dllstx03 and downstream switches was detected by Onsite Support
Technicians. This attack proved difficult to mitigate without affecting
legitimate traffic, and CoreXchange Engineers were made aware of the situation
for mitigation assistance. This attack may have caused extended packet loss and
latency until a successful filter was applied at 19:13 CST. Unfortunately, the
method of attacks are ever-changing, and may never be able to be completely
proactively mitigated. However, we continue to research ways to improve our
response times and methods of quickly filtering these attacks to minimize the
time impacting to our customers.

The CoreXchange Network Operations Center is available to provide up-to-date
status information, should you have any questions. Please reference CoreXchange
ticket #220831.

Scary stuff Dave. One of the things I noticed was that I had my "items per page" set at 500. I used to change the display number frequently, switching between a large and small display number. The site is so fast I haven't look at that number for months!

I keep mine at 100 but even that is a bit much sometimes, especially when I'm browsing lists of plants in the database. 100 images at a time is a bit much.

Anyway, our server is supposed to handle that kind of load without any problems, and usually it does. I hope my provider is able to keep up with the villains who are trying to disrupt connectivity for the thousands of people who keep servers in this particular data center in Dallas.

(And BTW, this DDOS problem plagues every data center.)
