I bought some ferns at a big box store, they were supposed to be Christmas ferns, ended up being Boston ferns I think, I would like to get some more ferns: Christmas Fern, Autumn Fern, Japanese Holly Fern, etc.
Any suggestions on a reliable source with good prices?

I've ordered from Sunlight Gardens (sunlightgardens.com) and have always been pleased with their plants and their service. Very friendly and responsive.

Crownsville Nursery. I have ordered perennials and shrubs from them. They seem to have a large selection of ferns, but I have not ordered any. High quality plants. And, they do have sales...

Have you checked with Dothan Nursery? I've never looked for ferns in particular there, but it's huge, and really, really nice. Probably more $ than a BBS, but probably about even once you add shipping cost.

Yes, I have looked at Dothan Nursery, I even bought some ferns from their sister nursery out near the botanical gardens(Buds and Blossoms). The ferns really looked neglected, in small little containers, but the price for the tiny ones was about six or seven dollars I think. They are still growing in the garden, assuming they make a come back this year, the Autumn Fern I bought there has grown into a nice beautiful fern. The Japanese Painted fern has struggled from the beginning and I am concerned it make not come back this year, no signs of life yet.

I have heard good things about Siskiyou Rare Plant Nursery in Oregon. I haven't ordered from them yet, but they have a couple of ferns I'd like to get.

woofie, thanks !

purpleinopp, I just found this site online, have you ever heard of them or bought from them? I am making a trip up to north Alabama later this month, I think I will drive over there and check them out. The prices look good, they don't do much shipping apparently, but it would be a nice diversion.
