Looks like Voodoo Lily (Sauromatum venosum) Mike. I've always neglected mine because they grow so well but this year I learned if you feed them well they often put up multiple leaves.

Thank You eclayne. I can't stop them spreading. Seedlings popping up all over when I reuse the soil. Nice bloom though.

We live at 2200ft with about 150 inches of rain a year in rain forest. I grow mine in pots under cover so they don't rot when they go dormant. The one in the photo came up in a pot outside and seems fine. Do they like a lot of water. I would prefer to have them outside so I don't have to water. I think I might let them get to dry.

Agreed!

So funny you just learned they shoot more than 1 petiole, mine usually get 3, sometimes 4 per year, this year a lot of mine are actually too big!
Shading out plants near them, my Indian giant is 4' with a 3' spread, they seem to grow less pets. than the normal form...
It seems many of mine are actually hybrids between the 2 forms, seeds are quite rare unless you hand pollinate. They do however reproduce like a madman from new bulbs!
I would wager that in ground there, you would still have amazing results!
I can't find a bad spot for mine here, they're constantly popping up in odd spots, I still have fresh spikes emerging... Even tho I also have some 3 and 4 foot tall already...

I can't say they're completely cold hardy here but of those I've left in the ground most survive. 4' is impressive Sway. If I remember the photos of your IG the petioles are marked. Best of both world's!

That's a lot of water Mike but I'll ask around.

My biggest konjac "pappy" is on the move!
Late but wasting no time!
This was 2 days ago, 3+' tall with a spread just as big, he's a long way from filled out but the seasons winding down quick here I'm afraid, he's not failed to increase in size each year, despite blooming every year except the first!

Man... I cannot wait for my other konjac types to get this size!
Peaonifolius too! I need more different clones of it but they're not so common or recognized...

I'd really like to add more to this thread but these plants require a better camera to really do them any justice, not to mention the time of loading pics...

I'm itching to get a few new types of amorphs, I've only added one unknown new plant in 2 or 3 years now, I think it's about time!

I've found an amazing source for arisaema and other hardy aroids here locally!
Well established, long planted bulbs, many of which are: in need of dividing and choking on all the pupsbeing threatened by larger tougher plants, and some are the largest, best looking specimens I've ever seen!
I can't wait to dig in this fall!

Looking great Sway. Nice pattern on Pappy and nice pic of the leaf emerging. Is that paeoniifolius behind him? What's are you doing with the paper towel rolls?

I was wondering about that also.

I need to grab a pic...I didn't think I'd get a bloom on A.atroviridis this year since the bulb split into 2 bigger ones and 2 tiny ones. But it is.

I've had to move them inside the greenhouse to dry out tho. Lost the baby A. Konjac Beige stem Sad

Yea, that's an odd clone of peaoifolious, the only clone I have...

I've been playing catch up, updating, the paper towel rolls where supposed to have already been explained but I can't find the post...
It's a propagation tactic I've been working on for colocasia...

Let's see if I can get a few pics to load up here...

Here's pappy, my big konjac, the more I look around, the more I think pappy may not be a typical konjac, all the others I see have much more dark on the petiole than mine, but he's certainly not a recognized cultivar such as knightstick or Leo's song... I'm beginning to wonder if it may be a clone that gets larger than normal konjac, I understand that somewhere around 5-10 pounds, the main tuber will split into 2 smaller tubers instead of simply growing larger. Pappy was 8 pounds before blooming, about 6 after, he bloomed late this year, and took a long rest, I was afraid he wouldn't come up this year, low and behold, he shot up like never before! And even though his tuber was about this same size last year, the lead and petiole are bigger, and more robust than ever before!
I think this is the 4th(maybe 5th) year that he's bloomed without a break, it's my understanding that konjac a usually bloom every other year, so I'm just not real sure what his deal is! I certianly have no shortage of these genes! I think I have over 100 plants that all came from pappys pups, several are getting up to size!
I can't seem to get any pics of my names clones that actually showcase their beauty and uniqueness... I just need a real camera and not this junky iPhone camera I think...
I'm rather excited about them though! Every single one of them has spit 2 petioles this year!
That's got to be a good sign that they are growing well!
I absolutely cannot wait to have massive plants of the 3 of them(knightstick, Leo's song and beige stem) my unusual clone of peonifolious has even decided to spike up another pet!

Average sized amorphs are fine and all, but once they get over your head, it's an entirely different statement they make!

The other pics are if my venosums, showing the leaf first, then the petiole, I'm quite sure that the ones with few spots are a hybrid of the normal form and Indian giant... I guess I need to acquire a true Indian giant too, to round out the collection!

mine did really well, from just a 1 year old plant, i got at friends plant sale for $ 7. Just this one season she grew two great leaves and 5 bulblets. 4 have sense been re potted and are in small pots. mama's getting sleepy i can tell..... her last leaf is starting to turn yellow and perk up from the full sun it got outside today. I will wait for the leaf to completely wither before taking her out of the soil and putting her on my bookshelf. She did so well this year but i took her out before completely dormant(- bad idea wont make the same mistake again.) I had no idea the size of the tuber when i got it but it was as big as a small plum when i took it out. Then again I got a special Amorphophallus food from europe on Amazon so it doesn't surprise me.

I don't know I'll post the name of it later on. I find late summer sun full sun helps speed along dormancy. Either that or the plant is stressed because I gave it water or messed around with the bulblets. when that leaf does die back i'll lift the mother bulb and check its health then i'm following Henrys advise of leaving it on a shelf. The babies look great.

You dug the bulbils out before dormancy?

Were they growing?

I'd be interested in the ratio and contents of that feed, I make my own or have peters mix it for me, I refuse to pay the prices these specialty feeds demand!
For some it's perfect, but the truth is, it's overpriced and often inferior...
Fertilizer that's used on container plants should NEVER be derived from urea, ammonia nitrate. It can build up and kill your plants.
Peters makes the absolute top of the line fertilizer!
