Portable Ponds

By Eric4home

Do you live in an apartment or townhouse or are you thinking of moving in a few years? Is digging a pond an issue for you? Then an above-ground water garden is perfect for you. Small above-ground water gardens have many advantages. No digging, no wading in to clean them, lower cost, and portable. Just look around and think out of the ground.

Great pictures and ideas. Who would have thought an old cast iron tub would be so lovely. Wish I had one, or even an old toilet. Hurray! Rolling on the floor laughing Acorn

There is quite a bit of history associated with that tub. When I was a young girl it sat at my Aunt's Summer Cottage with a hand pump. When my Uncle improved the old cottage with indoor plumbing we got the old tub and used it for years as a water trough in the horse pasture. Later when all the horses were gone it became a dumping ground for excess pond plants and Keg holder for parties. One day in a fit of cleaning excess I drug it out for trash pick up and son Josh happened to come by and said "Mom you can't get rid of that." So it got drug back into the yard, and I came up with the idea of the pond. Dear Ric sure did a great job cleaning it up and painting it. Plus figured out how to make it look like the tub was filling. He did a great job.

Neat. That tub is well worth the cost to build it.

Just the paint and a fairly inexpensive filter/pump combo. The faucet and copper pipe fittings to make it circulate the water from the drain through the copper pipe and out the faucet were all scrap pieces. I don't think we had $50 in the whole thing.
