I ordered two Nadine Jessie and two Teds Choice from Swan Island Dahlias and I have received them here in Pittsburgh. They look like very fine blue colour shades.

However I have had to change my travel plans and have to fly through Canada and England to get back to Ireland, and have checked customs regulations. I am not allowed to bring these tubers around like this so I am offering them to anybody on the Dahlia Forum on the good old mainland USA that wants them sent to them.

I don't know about addresses or what is normal, but let me know if you want them by tree mail, just your name for the draw from a hat, and I will notify everybody that writes and perhaps the winners will send me their address in due course. There will be four draws for one tuber each is the fairest way I guess.

I will put the names in a hat. No charge, postage will be covered by me, and let that be a lesson for me and a bit of luck for you.

Here are the dahlias:

Have a nice day I tip my hat to you.

@Cantillon, Sure Peter, throw my name into the hat. I can always find somewhere to squeeze in one more dahlia. Either variety is fine. They are both lovely.

Sure will, I think I will hold the draw about second week of April when I am back in Pittsburgh, and leave them in a cool garage until then. I hope they will be fine, though temperature yoyos by thirty degrees in a few weeks here.

Kind regards,

Peter I tip my hat to you.

oh, please do count me in for the drawing! I am just getting started and want as many varieties as possible in my new beds.

I dug everything up last fall, as I wanted to amend and till the new beds - ahem, expansion was called for. Dahlias did well for me here in Upstate SC.

Tilling is on the schedule for today. Unfortunately my tiller spent a month in the shop last fall, so I couldn't prep the beds then.
All gardeners live in beautiful places because they make them so.

What a generous offer! I'd love to be included in the drawing, Peter! And that is a great suggestion, Frank!

Thanks everybody for writing in, I will enter everybody in the draw and summarise next week so names can be checked.

Thanks Frank for your kind offer, but apparently I can't receive tubers unless they come with some licence, so I guess I can just wish you well. By the way , I read everything you write, great advice.

Kind regards to all,

Peter I tip my hat to you.

Thanks again Peter, for awhile, when I first saw the title of your thread, I thought somebody is speaking in our Filipino language Big Grin Daw is an expression we frequently used. Nice timing for typo error. Smiling , plus I love Dahlias too.

Hi tarev,

In Ireland a "daw" is a fool, and I guess my fingers were typing what I was thinking about the situation I had put myself in.

Still it is a bit of fun,

Kind regards,

Peter I tip my hat to you.

Daw in our language just means - it is said, or someone said, or is it Big Grin

A very generous offer indeed! Am I too late to toss my name in the hat?

If I'm too late, no worries and thank you.

I tip my hat to you.
