I'm still waiting for the peonies to bloom. The reason I'm so excited about them is because I've waited SIX YEARS for them to bloom! This will be the first time they have ever flowered! I wonder if it's because we had an extra long and cold winter this year. I know, peonies aren't the best choice for Texas. I think they will be worth the wait. Green Grin!

Kaffir Lilies are gorgeous (I just looked it up)
wildflowers: You are right that peonies need a certain amount of chilling to flower. (vernalization)

I thought you might like that article which has a tip on how to trick your peonies into flowering when the winter isn't long or cold enough.
Congratulations on your first blooms (after 6 years - my goodness)!

Peonies are always worth the wait. I'm waiting on mine (Sarah Bernhardt), which are still unfurling new leaves here. I miss the Festiva Maxima where I used to live, back when I didn't know enough to take some with me. They bloomed earlier, too. Enjoy!
