I didnt plant any so these are all volunteers from last years plants.

Had to include my hand so you could get a feel for how large the leaves are on my clover.

Can somebody help me with the name of the plant with the purple flowers?

I think that flowah is a hollyhock.

Is your clover in the ground? If so, is it invading everywhere? I had some little bitty seeds NO-ID seeds and sprinkled them in a container to see what would pop up. Clover. Wondering if I will unleash a terror if I put it in the ground?

I used to play golf at Stanford. (No, I don't know Tiger Woods).
There is a California Bay Laurel tree at the second hole (as I remember).... used to whack off a small branch when playing through that hole for stews etc.

Mary - I havent had a hollyhock anywhere near this yard. But the flower does look like one.
I want to say its part of the mallow family.

I have it in every bed.
Made the hugest mistake ever when I cleaned up an area that had it and I tossed it in the compost pile.
Where ever I spread the compost 6 months later new clover popped up.
This stuff re-seeds like crazy.
Only thing that will clean it up is stop watering it.
Doesnt take long for it die but then the other plants start to suffer.
And once you start to re-water the seeds start sprouting.

I have found that fresh bay is so much better than the stuff you get at the grocery stores that has been dry for?
I'm not sure which one is my favorite to run my hands through.
The bay or the rosemary.

The seeds I planted did not germinate. Our SP volunteers from last year are all white too, but very prolific. We are cutting every day. A neighbor of my mother's used to have multi colored sweet peas come back every year.

Mary - I did a search for mallow to see if I could find the plant my results were about 50/50 between hollyhocks and mallows.
It ended being a Lavatera maritima.
Flowers sure do look like hollyhock flowers.

Harold - My grandmother used to grow sweet peas and she never bought seeds. It was always ones she collected from her vines and she had all kinds of different colors like your mom's neighbor. Wonder why we got white and no other colors?
