I've decided that I have so many of these "Little Gems" that I'm going to hit the farmers markets with them. A big hassle getting the business license and all the rest of the documentation required but once I get over that hurdle I'm good to go.

Yes, Christine. I've got a tough enough time tending to all the various succulents' needs. I can't imagine trying to cultivate & propagate other plants as well (although I do grow quite a lot of canna).

Here's my latest:

This mini character mug of Dick Turpin from Royal Doulton was my mother's. She'd be happy I was making use of it.

Thanks Lynn! I've got four more of the mini character mugs (my mom collected them) and a bunch of Japanese luster ware that I want to use but I'm really hesitant to drill any drainage holes in them. I haven't had the best of luck with terrarium-style (no drainage) succulent plantings. For the Dick Turpin mug I put about a good inch of pumice in the bottom under the potting mix. I'll be keeping an eye on it with a water meter so we'll see what happens.

That sounds like a great plan. Let me know how it goes. I have some things I would love to plant in, but don't want to put holes in them. I may just find small plastic pots that will fit in them, but short enough that they can't be seen. That way I can easily water out of the container and put the plastic pot back in.

That's a dilemma for us that have the imagination to plant into an unusual pot but also have the sentimentality to preserve an unusual pot. I usually cave in and go with putting the hole in because it's too easy to hide the intact pot away but not the pot with the plant in it that you have to water regularly. Smiling

I'll post pics as the summer progresses. The only real climate change we get here is blisteringly hot summers.
