Redneck outdoor kitchen open again at the farm. Last week I put up 20 quarts of applesauce and I have another 20 going here. I decided to take a page out of McP's book and bartered last weeks applesauce for elk meat, croppie, brown trout, and cat fish. Tomorrow is apple butter and apple pie filling day.

Applesauce and apple butter making time at the ranch again this weekend. I picked right at 100 lbs of apples last night.

Your amazing Jayne...that tickles me. All I knew you grew back in the day was house plants. Who would have thought??? Miss gardener diva!

Looks like I will be putting up some squash puree this weekend too. Yep Alan, I have gone from farming houseplants to farming food. I love it. I am going to put in another bed this fall hoping to have enough veggies to trade for eggs and chicken meat to augment the fish and elk meat. My goal is to buy as little as possible from big business farms what with all the cwrap they are putting on and in our foods. There is a lady at the farmer's market by me that asked if I would grow spinach for her. She wants to trade me her habanero salsa and her enchilada sauce for the fresh spinach. She runs a small company out of her home in Gilbert. Look what you started McP...

Nice haul Jayne!

Very handsome looking. What sort of soil do you grow those in? Singh, partially, I assume??

Actually these are container grown using Summer Winds planting mix. Some of the runners did touch down on the soil and produce. My soil is all amended with yep Singh Farms compost.

Yikes! Now that's a great haul, too, Kelly! And, you're storing yours in a well ventilated cool, dark spot?
Loverly yield!

Mine are in my garage too. My garage is cooled so I am hoping they cure nicely in there.
