lol! Every time I try to get paid help, the husband gets all wound up and THEN he helps!

I use that as a last resort if nagging doesn't work. It's why we're finally redoing the bathroom after three years...and now he agrees with WHY I wanted to do it. It's a very scary picture.

Our money will be going into more fencing. Good fences make me happy. The hogs are around again...darn! Hate those beasts! The only good thing people have to say about them is that the meat tastes good after they're killed.

I think I'll take our coyotes over your hogs! Thursday night, coming home late from a mtg, I saw what looked like a coyote that had been hit in the middle of the hwy. near our subdivision. Then yesterday, we received an e-mail from the neighborhood asso. that there would be a mtg. in a couple of weeks to address the coyote problem out here.

I met Mr. Slitherkadee in the flower bed behind the pond. I'm pretty sure it was him that left his "winter coat" behind. He's fairly long and fat. I haven't counted fish in the pond yet, but he may have had a morning snack... At least he's a good snake...I just don't want him to surprise me.

I'd bet that he doesn't want to be surprised either! All I've seen this spring on the property are the baby rat snakes....such little things! Yesterday I was trying to get some of the excess leaves and stuff from the oaks out of the potted plants and didn't watch too closely...but it was a toad that I started to grab, not a snake.

Oh I'd like your snake. He'd eat some of the vermin around here...maybe even catch the mouse that's been living by the pool.

lol! At least they'd leave the poor toad alone while they chased the snake in the grass. Smiling

Two nights ago, the lead news story was snakes...and a Bastrop man that was bitten by a huge rattlesnake and managed to kill it before he died.... I am a little worried that more snakes might use our pond as a water/food source. IF we ever get rain, the pond is filled with trilling frogs at night, looking for company.

Ugh, that's not a pleasant thought. And I've been grumbling about the ants coming into the house. :/

Our pond is the breeding area for mostly Leopard Frogs, but others as well.....which, naturally,....attracts those critters that love the taste of frogs...including racoons, herons, an occasional Red-Tailed Hawk....and of course.....ssssssnakes. They're mostly non-poisonous....but every once in a while,...I find a Water Moccasin....which won't do because of our 4 legged kids. Calls for a 20 gauge solution.

The sssssnakes we have to be most careful of.....(not too surprisingly)....are the gecko / toad / tree frog - eating Copperheads
The geckos/toads/tree frogs are in the middle of the food chain....the bugs attracted to our porch lights being the bottom
God Bless America!

I've been clearing all the leaves from under the bushes along the fence line. I'd rather water a little more than walk up on a slitherkadee taking a siesta under a shrub. I threaded some sprinkler hoses thru a bed, and I swear I think there's a snake there every time I walk up on those striped hoses! Last night, I read on DG that Moodene killed a 62" water moccasin that had just laid eggs "somewhere." Her worker found a hole and smashed the 15 eggs...... And I went to sleep trying to visualize a 62" snake!!!!

WOW. I'm glad the only thing in my backyard is dead weeds and a few wildflowers!

That's gonna be in my backyard too if we don't get some rain! We relocated two squirrels yesterday after they took most of my little peaches off and threw them on the ground. Bruce is at the lake...he was to meet the plumber at 10. The guy still hasn't shown up and isn't answering his cell phone. I told him to just call someone else....(who doesn't have a drinking problem)...
I'm moving pots....I wonder if there will be pots in Heaven for me to move? I won't know what to do with myself if I run out of pots to move! Oh wait...there's probably good soil up there with no limestone slabs in it.....
Well, back to the outdoors... Stay cool and drink lots of water!

If there's gardens in heaven, the plants should be perfect planted anywhere! But you could probably have pots, if you'd prefer.
