Saw these at a local nursery, The Great Outdoors, a few evenings ago.

They were lightweight, probably plastic fence posts. The decorations seemed to be decoupaged, covered with heavy lacquer. Some were birdhouses, others were capped. All were whimsical and expensive. The least expensive being around $200. The taller ones, depending on the amount of decoration, climbed to over $300.

I'm sure someone here will figure out how to make them! I'm thinking PVC round pipe would work as well.

Those are beautiful but pretty pricy for decoupage. But still, we can admire and make our own! I love mod podge for decoupage and all of the magazines are instant sources for pictures.

Eight years ago I started recylcing light bulbs with magazines and paint, covering them with MP and they held up great as long as the sun didn't hit them all day.

I couldn't figure out if the flowers were "cut-outs," or some kind of wrapping paper. But I did find a rather large elephant I liked! His coat must have died in the last freeze. Maybe someone can make one!

And only in Texas, two metal vultures eating cattle skulls.

He was at The Great Outdoors, a nursery on Congress Av. here in Austin. The nursery hosted our garden club the other night and gave us a discount on anything we bought. 'Was a beautiful, cool evening. We had fun!!! Whistling

It was fun, even though I was accompanied by my "handler" (DH)! You know...."where are you going to plant that?"

This is the roof of the office at TGO. It has under gone lots of planting transitions. I don't think our insurance company would appreciate us planting our roof, but someone might want to try it! Supposed to keep the heat at bay in the summer.

Nice roof! That almost looks like they just planted on the original roof - didn't do any reinforcing for weight or anything.....

Yes, it's just bags of soil on top of shingles. They've done different plantings each year. Possibly experimenting to see what is most successful.
Edited to add: They may have a roof membrane under the bags for water-proofing. Can't tell. I'll ask the next time I'm over there.

The ones you were sending me from the spoon contest silly! You told me you were sending them several times in Tree-mails but no problem! We all get busy and I was hoping more had entered anyway. Smiling

Don't worry about it Becky (not Sandi! Hilarious! ) I think more should have have been involved to make that one a true contest anyways, and don't ship them! We'll try again for a new contest someday. Summer is always inspirational! You are right Sandi! *Blush* *Blush* I mean Becky!

Hilarious! Its all good, and everything is fine. Keep up the good works!

NOPE David, my word is good (although slow) and you will get them one day. School is out in two weeks and then I will be getting caught up. I took 6 classes this semester so I could graduate May 6th. I meet myself coming and going and while my intentions are really really good, I have been swamped and have not been to a post office since December 9th.

Like the old Candid Camera slogan said "someday when you are least expecting it . . . smile!" You've got wooden spoons!

I do decoupage and love those garden columns, Sandi. I have several interesting things I could decoupage for garden gifts and I think I will!
I garden for the pollinators.
